Yes, I know that this is a non-Marauder topic, but as it is about a 4.6L V8, I posted it here.

Anyway, the 2007 Lexus LS 460 is listed at 380 HP, 370 torque, 8-speed automatic trans, rear-wheel drive, and 0-60 in 5.4; quarter-mile in 13.8. Tires are 18", option for 19".

So if a Lexus barge is in the lane next to you, and it has the dual exhausts integrated into the rear bumper, it can jump if the driver wants it to jump.

P.S. Price range $65-90K.

Lexus has some very nice V-8's they are quick and very nice cars also....but not as quick as my Smokie.:D
 
And to think my Marauder with the soon-to-be-installed Trilogy #150 will outperform it - for about a fourth of the price! And my Marauder won't make me just another one of a million others driving the same Lexus.

Sad.

Seriuosly folks...once you get past a 5 or 6 speed transmission, do you REALLY need 8 speeds....WHEN is it EVER done shifting!?

I'm a amateur mechanic, to get that many speeds into a tranny, parts got to get smaller. Wouldn't smaller movable parts wear out/break quicker with that kinda torque/HP (tranny internals).?.?

nope, smaller trans often out perform, and can be stronger. A good example is sequential gearboxes. That kinda power is really not very much all things considered.

did you see the post about that where a car magazine tried to do it and recorded it... didn't work at all :rolleyes:
 
I really doubt it is making 380 hp unless if it is direct injection VVT, and at 8000 rpm. Not even the new BMW 5.0l DOHC V8 makes that much power. It probably is all peak hp. Toyota has a nasty habbit of overstating hp figures just like Honda. Either way, I wouldn't buy it.

That was my thinking as well. Honda Finally got with the program, in 2006
engine power rating in alot of there cars were reduced to make them
consistant with SAE standards. For example the 3.2 in the 2005 Acura
TL was 270 in 2006 the 3.2 was 'reduced' to 258. Toyota I learned
however, never changed to comply with the SAE standards.

I dunno about that, 380 isn't really that far fetched on a 4.6L... heck with a little tune we can gain 20 or more from the stock MM motor. With the right workings It's not hard to swallow.

While I haven't seen independent data yet, they do have a 3.5L V6 that makes 306HP and 277lb-ft (I have seen that data). They do have direct injection and VVT. Do the math, 380HP is there. And at 7000 RPM, not 8000.

BTW - the 3.5L cylinder heads are incredible, I'm sure they know how to scale it up for a V8. I don't like to admit it, but these guys know what they are doing...
