Not sure but 98 or 99 to 96 f body was 305hp and newer was 345 hp. So with a 305 hp and bad driver I could see head to head but no better
Stock LS1s starting in '98 were rated around 305HP, and in 2001 they were bumped to 315 and 325 for the SS package (I believe they said that came from the ram-air scoop). The 345HP option was an SLP factory option (I know this as my '02 has this option and a build sheet from SLP to back it up). In reality, pretty much every '01-'02 LS1 F-Body made the same power from the factory, the Z28 and SS distinctions meant almost nothing but appearance differences as they were all putting down pretty much the same power and ET numbers. The real difference in power came from the switch in '01 as they reworked some of the emissions garbage, but even then we aren't talking about a terrible lot of difference, at least not that I've seen.
Before '98 all 4th-gen F-Bodies had an LT1 engine, which was rated at a fair bit less power, but still posted ETs faster than even most moderately modded Marauders.
I'm not at all saying it didn't happen, but I'm thinking that this is not as simple as running across an LS1 F-Body, racing him and only losing by half a car. And yes, an LS1-powered F-Body turning a 14.5 is ridiculous. I've heard first-time drivers posting better times than that. Those numbers are right on par with an LT1 F-Body though.
Also, while this doesn't translate to much in the street (winning is winning yada yada), keep in mind that if you got the jump on him first, he actually pulled you by like a car length as he made up that distance difference AND THEN pulled ahead still. And if this was to like 60-70mph, he actually yanked you pretty good, cause you aren't even close to 1/4 distance from a dig at that point and if it was a roll then you barely ran at all.
Like I said, too many things out in the open to gauge this well still...
Also, if you are talking strictly roll-racing here, that's a bad reason to switch out a 4.10 rear gear. The only sizable difference is gonna be from a dig, for whatever reason from a roll a 3.55 Marauder is going to be pretty comparable to nearly identical to a 4.10 Marauder. If you really want to make this beast go fast, do what every other smart Ford Modular engine owner does and boost it.
At this point though, your best bet is to hope that that SS has the same problems with traction that mine does if you want to beat him.
