Has anyone else noticed a lunar eclipse going on right now? My kid pops outta his room just to let me know. Now he's outside looking up into the sky like close encounters.

Not perfect in any way, but that blip is the moon at 9:40pm

Lake effect snow was hindering me tonight. :depress:

Once the clouds passed it was over.
This is all I could capture with the big guns; Nikon D80 400mm 2xAC

I have struggled for years with Lunar shots. One of these days I'll nail it.
EXIF INFO not currently available, but I shot tripod mounted at 1" Shutter speed, ISO 1600 and WB Cloudy.

IF ANYONE ELSE CAUGHT IT PLEASE POST.

We wanted pics for baby's scrapbook.

It's amazing you weren't stabbed and camera stolen!
LINGGGGER LOOONGERRR!

Sorry.:depress:

That was out of line.:P

It is freezing in MN.

I was struggling with a 200mm lens :( Then the camera would not AF for beans in the low light.

I will upload later tonight

Lock the A/F to Manual, and use a remote to fire the shutter.

Shooting in darkness with A/F on is a real PITA.

....and no shat on the cold. It's only 15 here, but dayum....my finger tips were numb after 20 minutes.

I went through two camera batteries, and my head gear led went dim as well.

I took like 200 pictures only to get about 25 good ones, most of them didn't turn out at all cause my A/F was all messed up and then I would set the timer and somehow the tripod would move I would have like 3 moons in one shot. 23 degrees messing with the tripod and holding the camera was killing my hands lol.

Before the eclipse I was trying to tune the A/F.

Wish all my pictures were coming out this clear and bright. No photoshop or adjustment, just a real long shutter exposure then everything went down hill.

Notice the beautiful arrangement of Saturn to the lower left and the star Regulus (in Leo) on the upper side of the moon. It was spectacular and the sky cleared perfectly here in Northern VA just before the eclipse began. Your pictures above are very nice.

Those are some good pics...Cause I damn sure missed the whole thing....Thanks guys...
