Lunch at ABC's in Gettysburg

1st time I ever recall SilverBirch Marauders outnumbering Black Marauders!

....every dog has its day....:D

Hey guys. I'm planning another trip to take my father out to see the Civil War Battlegrounds in late July. Would be nice if there was any Marauder gatherings he could also see. My dad is a big General Lee fan.

Then take him to a car show and not a battlefield in Pa.

Nice Charger. But I was the Dukes of Hazzard fan as a kid, not so much my Dad. Anyway, I'll keep an eye out for any CAM meets when we come and visit.

Just messen with ya. Let us know when you are in the area and we (CAM) will try to get something together.

Looks like my plan is coming together. I'll be arriving in the area the night of July 22nd, doing Gettysburg Park drive tour on the morning of the 23rd (might take my mom and dad to the ABC for lunch), heading to Antietem for the afternoon, and will be in the Mount Vernon/Manassas area on the 24th (maybe even hit Monticello). Hitting the road that night heading to Indianapolis to take my parents home. Probably stop somewhere in the middle for sleep.

Sounds good, however the 23rd is a Tuesday. Not sure if I'll be able to head there on weekday. Try to arrive on July 20 so you can make the Captain Dans meet.

Whoa... old thread!

Great to relive the memories. Just what I needed. Funny how much changes over the years!

I live between Mount Vernon and Manassas National Battlefield. Distance is 45 miles but not a direct route. Minimum travel is 1 hour (best to allow 1.5 hours with any traffic ... a little worse if during rush hour which starts around 3:00 PM and lasts until 7:00 PM. I'll probably be working on the 24th since that is a Wednesday ...

Manassas to Monticello is 95 miles on Route 29 or 15 most of the way. About 2 hours minimum.

I dont blame you. Its nothing but congestion.

sent from space

It is only congestion when it is still moving.

Cellphones and texting have only made the problem worse with the increasing number of fender benders and rear end accidents that will screw up traffic to an unbelievable extent. Blocked lanes and flashing lights (of any color) will bring traffic in this area to a dead stop. A 15 minute episode will screw traffic up for more than an hour because of the volume and the residual effects.

 But, it was funn trying to keep us all together.

MV as fun, I meant passing through. Last trip I hit early enough, but as Charlie said I got caught by an accident. Two weeks later I'm still suffering the lingering effects of not being able to get out of my car for over 3 hours. What a nightmare. I was making great time until that... :mad2:

I was originally hoping to arrive earlier but there is a group of us (mom, dad, my brother, my other brother, my neice, my sister) so I had to go with the majority of the people's schedules. We are renting an Econoline van for the long drive.

Thanks for the tip and info. I'll try to build that into my plans. Not sure what other places we might stop to eat yet or what times.

Flying to Indy on Sunday. Will do all the driving on Monday to see Gettysburg again. Hope to see some Marauders on the road at least.

Cheers.
