megs delete tips questions

Black_Noise

Self installed Trilogy #239
ok... so what does it sound like before and after the megs delete tips install???

and what did you pay for them?
so they're the same looking as stock?

anyone with them please let me know

Megs deletes, and Flowmaster 40's...a nice combo...

I did mine along with my mufflers. Megs deletes, and flowmaster 40's. Big sound improvement. I got mine for $130 (i think) from Wes Chain (Innovative Interceptors, MM.net vendor) I also had my tips extended about 1" beyond the end of my bumper. Doing this allows some of the sound, and vibration to escape...reducing some of the cabin resonance, and drone at certian rpms. So far the tips and mufflers alone are my only exhaust mod, the rest is stock. People who drive behind me say my MM sounds very deep and aggressive. Im sure you'll hear more opinions on this though. I think if you do just the tips, you won't get that much of an exhaust note change over stock, than if you did the tips along with the mufflers. Good luck.

$27.95 (each) from Ford Racing Performance Parts

The look is the same as stock.

The ones Wes sells ARE the same as stock. Same manufacturer, of the same size and materials, but with the resinators not installed.
HAGGIS posted a thread about a year ago about a neat install method in which he could swap back and forth.
Pay attention to Mat's advice about extending them a little further back to reduce cabin drone.

Are the ones from Ford Racing "Deleted" or do they have resonators in them.....No specific info on the Ford site??

I'm planning on keeping my stockers.
Am I making a mistake here?
It's getting the X pipe, 18" Magnaflows 2 1/2 all the way back.
On We's site, I do not see the hangers on the delete tips, are they there in real life?

This work is being done on 3/21... so if I need to order something, I need to do it now.

Look up HAGGIS' thread Rich. He had flange adapters welded on both, and can bolt on whichever set he choses. Very clever application.

HERE it is: http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=13560

Rich the only difference between the stock tips and the delete tips is sound and tone. There is no HP or TQ difference. If you want a more aggressive and louder sound go with the delete tips if not stay with the stock. Or try out the stock and then if you want it louder go with the delete tips.

That's good advice Gordon. I'll try the stock and go from there.
Did you get the hangers from somewhere for the delete tips? or did your shop make them up to weld on?
I am really pschy'd for this new sound! either way:beer:

Has anyone got the Mach 1 3.5" tips that Wes sells and are they resonator delete tips? If they are delete tips I think the MM would look nicer with a little bit bigger tip. JMIO

I tend to agree, the Marauder is a big enough car that a 3.5" tip is actually small looking. I'd bet a 4" tip would look pretty cool. :D

Mine are aftermarkets, I want to get a set of res-delete Meg's incase these start rusting...

Yeah and that was before the supercharger...LOL

I'm doing OK tread-wise, it's getting there though, I'm hoping to make my next tire purchase the upgrade to 295 street nitto's...hopefully the tires will hold up while my bank account recovers. :D

Meg's Tips

Aloha All,

Just had my Meg Tips installed last week. They area awsooooooooooooome. :bandit: I running Flowmaster super 40's w/Bassani X-pipe, Meg's tips make my MM soudning real good now. Don't know why Mercury went witht he resanators, makes the car too quite. Belive me it's worth the install.:coolman:

I'm a real big fan of the rolled edge tips, like what's on the Marauder from the factory. In fact, it's close to the same style as what's on my WS6.

I like them so much, it's almost..... sexual.....

Hey quit fisting those tips .......

:P

I'm fully intent on buying a set of the Meg's res-deletes, I'm wondering how long my current tips will look good. No one even knows what brand they are - I think they're motorcycle tips.

Whats the difference between the ford Racing meg's tips and the ones Wes sells? Material, thickness, chrome quality?

Just curious...
