MM parts on CVs

What I don't understand about this whole thread is why several MM owners are vehemently going on and on about CV / MGM owners grabbing hard to find parts, when in fact most are buying them off craigslist, finding them in junkyards... etc. I would say in a lot of cases, MM owners should be happy there are CV/MGM owners buying these parts, because it means they will still be around when you are doing a restoration on your Marauder, not recycled 7 times in a Kia.

Most people with CV/MGMs who have MM parts, have no intention of passing it off as a MM, or in any way imitating a MM. (Myself included). I have a white 05' MGM with MM corners, and blacked out headlights, with a MM style grille treatment. Am I trying to make it look like a Marauder? No, I just like the look of the blacked out front end.

Those of you relating this to putting an SVT badge on a stock, V6 Mustang are simply wrong.

These are not 65' Shelby GT350s, these are not Hemi Cudas, they are likely not ever going to acheive more than a cool, somewhat uncommon car status.

These cars, while more rare than most other mass produced models, are still pretty high volume. I would relate the 03/04 MMs to the 69/70 Marauders. Both had relatively similar production runs, and I feel that 40 years from now, (if cars are still of interest), the 03/04s will react similarly.

From the way some of the owners on here act, you would think they only made 500...

(Disclaimer) - I very much like the MM, and would eventually like to own one when I have space for more cars.

The thing that really bothers me is putting stuff with the Marauder name literally tagged/embossed on them onto something that isn't an MM. I guess other stuff doesn't really bother me, but if it has the Marauder name on it and it's going on something that's not an MM, it really is just like putting an SVT badge on a V6 Mustang, stock or not.

I completely agree with you here. In my post I was mostly referencing MM parts like seats, lights, front bumper cover, etc.

I feel the same way you do about things like the rear bumper, specific floor mats, emblems etc...

Hell, the only thing MM on mine anymore is the body, and most of the interior! Termi motor, GT500 trans, built Ford Racing rear, next to every suspension piece, sound. Not sure what I own anymore? 😊

I got my marquis for free, from my mother. It's been transporting me from place to place in some capacity for more than half of my life, I'm somewhat attached to it.

I have a set of light flint, heated, marauder seats, and went to the trouble of fabricating the correct wiring to get all of the functions, including the seat heaters. I don't believe anyone was beating down GDMJoe's door to pay $600 for them.

I have a marauder cluster, because I wanted a factory-looking tachometer in my car. I also ordered a set of custom faces for it so I don't have something that says "marauder" on my non marauder car.

I have a set of marauder wheels. I bought them for a fairly good price from the shadiest dude you can imagine in detroit, I then spent a frankly absurd sum of money having them refinished. I'll probably sell them =, but I'm going to enjoy having some sweet wheels with a proper mercury center cap on them in the mean time.

I've also got a host of engine parts, including heads, timing setup, valve covers, fuel rails, injectors, CoP covers, intake manifold, and TB out of various marauders. They aren't in the car yet, but they will be. I've also got a set of 96-98 cobra cams for the heads.

I'm not saying I agree with the people going out and buying marauder specific cosmetic bits to "clone" their crown vics. If you want something that looks like a marauder, buy a marauder.

I just have the radio and sub/amp from the MM and the rear sway bar (just because I had it). Does that make me a bad guy?

This thread is making rounds on CVN fyi, might want to lock it while ahead.

I like your vehicles and I've said I could care less who puts what parts on what car, but who gives a **** what CVN thinks about a Marauder.net thread? Go lock THAT thread.

In this thread, people list and defend their use of Marauder parts on other Panthers. Really, they're your cars. Do what you want, if anyone else has anything to say about it, does it really matter to you?

Exactly, nice!

So a thread that has been dead for weeks is now making rounds on CVN? Does it take them longer to do everything?

Tag line?

I am so confused? 325 posts and I still have no idea what the hell anyone is posting about?
If the parts fit use 'em!,,,,,,.......

My only thought is that I almost wish more Marauder parts were bought by whomever. Then Ford would have seen the blip in parts sales and maybe not discontinued or obsoletted so many of them for us actual Marauder owners. :-(

Yep, after reading that thread, I know why I don't post much over there anymore, seems all the kiddies are butthurt because they could have bought a Marauder for the same price as a P71, but bought the P71 because......??????
