MM Police car in CT?

Just talked to my son who lives in Shelton, CT. He said he was getting gas the other day and a black MM pulled up beside him at the pump. When he was paying the guy was behind him. He said the guy made a comment about his Shelby Charger and that he used to have one like it and my son said he liked his Marauder. He said the guy laughed and said its your car and my son said "what do you mean". The guy then told him it was a police car. Said he had a choice of a Chevy Caprice or the MM. My son took a closer look and it had a tinted rear window and a light bar inside and a black antenna but a regular CT license plate. He didn't ask if he was State or local and figured he was probably a detective or something. Anyone know more about this?

Indeed there is, I tried to race him while cruising on 95. As I got closer I saw the lightbars, waved and he was on his way.

You never know what you will see a CT Trooper in.........

Back when I lived in MA in the late 80's-early 90's and ran through CT, they had Grand Nationals, Mazda MX-6's, of course the 5.0 Mustangs and a a Corvette or 2....

Got to have situational awareness in CT for sure:coolman:

That doesn't sound familiar..I live in CT and I'm all over the state. My wife's from Milford, near Shelton, and I've lived in that area. Has to be a Statie from a barracks in Western CT or a local...NEVER seen a MM in the shoreline/central CT, northwest Hartford area (pretty much my stomping grounds).

Previous unmarked included those mentioned. A couple years ago they went with 1 or 2 fully marked/white Vic's but I'm not sure if they got the results they wanted (higher profile...the state as far as I know has never had "obvious" cruisers running around with anything more than a few antenna's and a light bar). The most common vehicles for the CT State Police includes Intrepids, Impalas, Expeditions (the "4XForce") and 'Vics. They've been around 2-3 years, the Vic's MUCH longer. Never seen the state run Caprices (maybe DMV did/does, they hang out at the scales on 91 and 84).

I live right near the Dept of Public Safety (their HQ), and normally the cars are introduced to the media there (last time I saw was all published in the Hartford Courant). Guess it keeps the playing field level if you are willing to read the news. I drive by the parking lot every morning and have never seen a Mercury in there...

With budget problems like anyone, the DPS is primarily spending funds on hiring a mandated minimum amount of State Troopers (level's we've never had apparently, something like 1,200) and not new unmarked cars.

Maybe a siezure that some lucky sole get's to enforce with...hafta keep an eye out for him...wouldn't ordinarily think of another MM as the law...

Your Marauder was built around the same time mine was 6-2002, and acquired the same week I purchased mine back in 2006 Too funny. We even have similar Mods:D.

My brothers now live in Avon and Farmington respectively. Good to see someone flying the MM colors in CT:banana2:

Best regards,

Yea, I stuck with the fairly easy mods. Have a PHP spacer and GMS connectors on the way that still need to go on. Luckily, I can keep the car off the road until it's warmer, and I'll have some nice, quick stuff to throw on it....

There's more than a few MM's up here. Had 6 or so out for a BBQ/Cruise last spring. Lost track after that, but I know they are still around here somewhere...

Weird CT plate, nice car....remember when the GN's came out...my dad was looking at one....bought an '88 Cougar XR-7 instead...was for my mom afterall. GN...fastest production car in 1987 I think (domestic anyway...)....

Was the quickest in '87 but was gov'd just like a stock MM to around 120mph. I drove 1 (a good friend had one, and was scared to push it, so I did for him:D ) I had an 86 vette that would take it in top speed, but was no match in the 1/4 or 0-60.....

We have a black MM car in Clarkston.Likes to sit on freeway on ramps and wait for someone coming under the bridge on the freeway.Dark tinted windows also.
