Well, after doing some research on picking out the right synthetic oil for my MM. I was going to do 5w30. But at the shop, the forman told me they have 0w20 which is designed for the 5w20 applications. I was shocked to see this because i've never heard of this. I asked the guy to save me a bottle so i can post pics of this for you guys. It looks like Mobile one finally suits our needs in accordance to warranty concerns! There is even a stamp of the bottle that reads" Recommended for Ford and Honda 5w-20 service!"
Hope this helps you guys out!
Frank

Synthetic oil not recommended by Steve Babcock.

This topic came up early--As soon as the MM was released. Steve held a town hall chat on Edmunds.com and said NO to synthetic on the stock Marauder Engine.

Unless Steve or Greg retract that statement, then I'll continue to use regular oil.

Note that I have used synthetic in my Tbird for nearly 4-years.

Found his quote:

stevencory1: Do you suggest the synthetic type oil and when should I add it mileage-wise?

steve_babcock: Greg says there's no reason to use synthetic. Follow your owner's manual for fluids and service intervals. We don't recommend synthetics, sometimes they weep through the seals. There's no reason with the modern electronics to use synthetics."

Here is link to entire chat. Really pumped me up back in June of 2002.

Maybe I'm off on this, but didn't I see some reference to Steve Babcock liking Mobil 1 5W30, as noted by someone who attended the Trilogy open house earlier this spring?

Triple,
My 2004 MM Owners Guide recommends Motrocraft 5W-20 Premium Synthetic on page 206. However, footnote #6 on page 207 indicates synthetic or synthetic blend is NOT mandatory.
Today, I just picked up a carton of Mobil 1 SuperSyn 5W-30 Newer Vehicle Formula. I vasilated for 15 mimutes between Valvoline Synthetic 5W-20 and Mobil I 5W-30.
Guess I'll visit www.MOBIL1.com website before using.
What's your opinion of Purolator PureOne oil filters compared to Motorcraft FL-820-S ?

Greenville in upstate SC, I'm right between Atl and Charlotte.

woaface is a screen name I came up with a few years ago for AOL. wo stands for 'without' and the rest is 'a face'...Can't quite tell who I am on the internet, so I figured I was "with out a face". Pretty cheezy, but I like it.
