New Crate Engine from FORD

One problem with turbo chargers are the heat that they radiate, possibly affecting various parts under the hood. This can be mitigated by using insulation or by mounting them remotely

Turbos would make more sense on the 7.3L Godzilla because it already has gobs of low end torque. With turbos, the midrange and top end pull would be sick.
Although a supercharged Godzilla WOULD make an awesome tire annihilator!

Current SC Godzilla’s can make over 1000 HP. The block is amazing!
A modified engine did this:

With the help of Whipple Superchargers, Brian Wolfe got the massive pushrod engine to make 1450 hp and 1030 lb-ft of torque.

Don’t get me wrong. A twin turbo has made more than 1000HP also.

I think the main point for Ford is that this is an alternative to the $10,000 Diesel option on the F250. It also is more Smog friendly than the Diesel to help pass future Smog rules.
