New Place to Mount the ScanGauge *PICS*

If Killjoy tries to take credit for this, just remember I was running 11's when he was still in diapers :bigcry:

This is on my Blue car (300b, no dash clock)
There are 2 alignment clips behind this panel. There is JUST enough room to mount the ScanGauge between them with no interference.
The Cat5 Cable plugs right into the back and has a direct path through the dash to the OBDII Connector.
I used a jigsaw to cut the hole, followed by a file to tweak the opening and finally some black silicone to finish the edges.

Simple, easy, awesome

If any one else is thinking of doing this....I have a dent right there where the scan guage is and would be happy to trade trim panel before you cut.....just thought I would throw that out there.

Zack,
Looks VERY nice. Several years ago Dennis Reinhart was going/talking about doing something like this for the 300A "Clock" port, but nothing ever came of that. Now you have given me a whole new idea.

Looks good Zack, same spot I was actually thinking about putting the display for a Escort Passport SR7 when I get one.

Nice job. I like that and it looks pretty clean. Not as clean as the overhead console mounting, but, in my opinion, in a better location to read it. Might have to look in to one of those...

Zack,

Couple of questions:

1) When you cut it out, did you do it from the front side or back side?
2) Did you tape off your cut area to help protect the area around it?
3) What size of area did you cut out - gauge size, smaller, just room for the cable to go through?

I cut from the front.
The dot matrix is a thin metal sheet and the dash is obviously plastic underneath it. It did not chip like a piece of laminated wood. No need for tape.

I cut the hole about the same size as the gauge and press fit it in place, followed by 2 small dabs of adhesive on the back side.

Cool. Thanks for the info.
