No Lights

Bradley G

broke but not dead!
Yesterday, my foglamps went off by themselves(switch still on)
I noticed the little green lamp on the headlamp switch, was out too.
Today, I have no headlamps.
I have the DayTime Running lamps, so I am guessing, it is the headlamp switch.

Well I have not had that issue.

I have however had many other enconters with lights and wipers.

Keep us posted please.

One of my fog lamps stopped working about 2 weeks ago. Bought a new bulb and still didn't work. Took out the bulb and the plastic piece that connects to the bulb and plugged into my brother's Marauder where it works.

???:dunno: ???

Anyone know what the problem could be if it is not the fuse (since the passenger side fog lamp works), not the bulb or the plastic connector piece that holds the bulb (since it works in my brother's Marauder)???

First check:

Fuses
Circuit breaker(s) (Replace with a fuse of the same amp rating to test)
Relay(s) The fog lights DO use their own seperate relay, and oen for the cut-out, located in the under-hood fuse box:

Swap it with the A/C cutout relay temporarily to test.

I would suspect the LCM before the headlamp switch, they seem to be very touchy on the MMs. Also, DRLs are not activated with headlamps ON, is your switch on auto or headlamp on position?

The oem lamps were returned both top and botton.
The TSB was very explicit no aftermarket bulbs.
These two threads could be merged.
The "Warning aftermarket bulbs" one.

Both of my Fog lights went out at the same time, but my green light on the switch still lights up.....any findings on what your problems were? ....I am going to trouble shoot it with Wes this weekend. Any one know were the LCM is located?

Same as mine; (sometimes)green light on, no foglamps on.
All the connectors , were melted.
I think the LCM, is in the headlamp switch.

Trace your fog light harness back under the fenders.
There is another connector to the main harnesses.
Make sure these are tight and they don't have water inside.
If you do see water inside, fill the connectors with silicone grease
before putting them back together.

DON'T USE VASOLINE. It will destroy the plastic connectors over time.

When I heard the $ of an replacement switch, I thought the LCM was built in!

LCM is separate and as I recall about $600.00......Mine was replaced by warranty when the turn signals quit!!:mad2:

BTW....dealer can trouble shoot through OBD II and their hand held gismo....Will tell the story!!

Good Luck Bradley!!

Check the fuses and relay first. Unfortunately I have seen several LCM failures lately. Costly, and definitely should be a more robust component.

OUCH!
I have not had any problems, since the dealer put me back to stock(bulbs).

I got one for you! My headlights cycle between on and off. It will stay on for two minutes, then go off. Two minutes later, they will come back on. Fog lights stay on no matter what though. Now, I did have my friend take a quick look at the fuses and the power box, the big box on the passenger side fender. I believe that's what is called. Fuses seem to be okay. How hard is it to get the headlight switch replaced? I have the extended 6yr 60,000 mile warranty, you think this would be covered?
