No love for Marauders in Long Island

Blackened300a

Sinister with style
I entered a car show out in St James Long Island this Sunday. I spent quite a long time getting the interior and exterior fully detailed for this show. I also have all the books and articles they give points for as well as my original window sticker put in the window.
My car is a daily driver, 3 years old and was the only Marauder in any of the shows I have ever gone to, but they put me in a new car catagory which I was against a 06 Impala SS which the guy just bought on Friday and a 06 Monte Carlo SS which the guy has had for a month and never drives. Needless to say I came in 3rd.
They just dont get that the Marauder is rare and limited.
Im better off going to Avis rent a car and pick up a new car for the weekend. Ill definitly come home with a 1st place without the effort

I hear ya bud. Its just not in the cards this week it seems. My car didn't win stink at the car show either.

Screw'em, we know what we got!

I feel your pain..... Went to a car show 2 weeks ago. They didn't even have a class for the MM. Needless to say I didn't win top 50, best in class or best of show:( I did win the 50-50 drawing. $225.00 clams in my pocket:banana: Not a bad return on my investment.... $20.00 to enter & $5.00 for 6 50-50 tickets.... :D

Yes this is so true..........I get so tired of people asking is that a Buick? Lincoln? Caddy? Nice cop car!

I remember one year I was in a car show against a POS F-150 that someone put a whole lotta "Tonka" stuff on. The truck didn't look too great but it was custom, and it was one of a kind. I didn't even place. Neither did that truck. The first place winner was an EVO, second place winner was a WRX STi, third place winner was another EVO. This year my sister entered that show and was in the same class, this time there was a brand new Ford GT entered in it. My sister took first place with a one of those Mineral Gray 2005 Mustang GTs. All she has is a billet grille and a 5" cowl hood. I'll never understand judges or the people at car shows in general.

Car shows are like card games, just because you show up means nothing without a plan. I have learned from the best in Northern Virginia and Kenny Rogers. It’s not the car; it’s how you present the car. I think judged shows are better for the Marauder then peoples choice, but what do I know.:blah:

Paul - Unfortunitly you are correct.
Most people think it is a Police Car.

Entered mine in a GTO sponsered show and also got a third place.
Not to shabby (IMO) with at least a dozen new GTO's in class.
By the way it was a popular vote show, not judged.

Your the luckest guy I know--Lets pool up for the lottery---!!!!!!!

Still No love for Marauders in Long Island!!

Why Do I subject myself to this torture!!
Today was another judged car show at Belmont raceway. Yesterday I spent 6 hours detailing the car, I pulled the wheels off and scrubbed inside and out. I also scrubbed the inner wheelwells, went over every part of the engine and every plastic piece of the interior.
I was up against my friends flawless garaged 03 Lincoln LSE, 06 Dodge Charger R/T, 06 Charger SRT/8 ,and that same Impala SS from last week that won first place.
Care to guess what happened????

Impala SS takes first alone, the Chargers tie for second and My friends LSE and myself tie for 3rd.
There are 2 more shows left and then I think Im going to call it quits!!!
How can a 3 yr old daily driver compete with brand new cars??

Never Mind! A basically stock MM can beat a new MC SS any day.

Glenn

Not even close to true.

A new Monte Carlo SS or Impala SS will wipe the floor clean with a "basically stock MM".

Hey, 3rd place ain't a bad showing. :trophy: Congratulations !!! :congrats: Maybe a "show board" like Merc, LadyHawke, Mike Poore and others have suggested will boost your display.

Don't call it quits!!! I go to shows just to get a chance to enlighten the people there about the MM. Most have no idea what they are...... No it's not a poilce / FBI / CIA car.... no it's not a fire chief's car (Mercury looks like he's wearing a fireman's hat).... what kind on engine is that??? looks really big.... If I win a trophy then I see it as a bonus. I am going to invest in a storyboard also.

Thanks for the words of confidence and the congrats! I was thinking of making a storyboard. It probably would help out my chances.
I have dealer brochure's, posters, a hot rod article, my MM jacket hanging up in the trunk, and all the required things they look for.
Its just not enough for them to give me the nod. Even one of the judges said her husband was going to purchase a Marauder but they couldnt find him one in DTR.
2 more shows to go, lets see what happens

Its too bad they are such tight***es towards your Marauder...I repeat to you like everyone before me...DONT GIVE UP. You are doing as Iam and keeping the Marauder in peoples faces. I am not trying to pour salt on your wounds with the story that follows. Dont give up and keep the Marauder out front for all to see....

I took First Place this past Saturday at the Charleston Air Force Base first annual "Match Up" Car Show in the '90 to '06 category. I was up against all the heavy hitters that are new and shiny and pretty. RoadPig and I went there with my Car Club to assist the Air Force in running the show. Ended up entering her and all I could do to get her pretty was put tire shine on and wipe off the rims....and RoadPig got her very first trophy !

Dont lose the faith ( I almost did )...Every person I met and talked with about my car was genuinely impressed with her and in some way said that FoMoCo shouldnt have let the project die...Keep jamming the Marauder down the rest of hotrod America's throat !
