Here's a Marauder For Sale in San Antonio for $24,083 with 7,680 miles!

With that many miles, I'm thinking they will go a little lower. 23 TO 23-5 maybe.

That car looks familiar, I mean the pics, I thought I remembered someone commenting about the check engine lite in the photo...

Yes that car in San Antonio has been posted here before. Been for sale for a while, and If I remember someone checked the VIN and there were some Red Flags about it

okay, since i'm sure you're all gonna fly down and snatch 'em all up :D it's northtowne lincoln-mercury in kansas city mo. walt wells was the salesman i talked to. i basically drove in on a whim with no prior knowedge of these cars other than that they existed so i didn't ask what options they came with or anything like that. the one i looked at in the showroom had a cheesy red pin stripe and a spoiler on the trunk. no sunroof or any thing else. he was very eager to get me into one and said he'd get me a tag and let me drive one right then, but didn't really have time. i mean i still don't know if i can get my truck sold or get financed on the thing anyway, but that's how i bought my lightning. just walked on the lot, saw it and liked it so i made a phone call and got a sight draft for the truck and drove it home that day. i like to dream, but you never know. i want one of these. so give walt a call at 816.453.2710 or cell 816.582.7757. and save one for me plaese!

Thanks Chris! We'll save one for you for sure. Why not keep the lightning and have 2 nice toys? Walt would love a cash sale with no trade I'm sure! As to the sunroof, you'll have to go aftermarket, as the factory sunroof option was pulled. There's a few guys here who can give more info than I about the aftermarket roofs. BTW, your lightning truck, does that have the 351 roller motor, being a '93?

Best,

Paul :D

chris fuller: Welcome! $24,800. is indeed a great price. In the Phila. area Reedman has them in the paper for $27,579. That price includes $4,250. in dealer rebates, which means you do not get 0%. Maybe in the middle of SUV land they want to move them??? Read some of the info posted and I am sure you will buy one! Good luck which ever way you go.

Sorry for the little disbelief, that is really a hell of a deal since the GM goes for almost as much. I see the depreciation going up?

To Chris:
From one junior member to another, welcome aboard! And thanx for keeping us in stitches on the info. I am definitely going to check this out for myself (I don't have an MM yet either). If I buy my MM from Walt, I will mention your name for a possible "birddog". By the way, It has been 10 years since your last purchase, it can be done again!

ah, just home from work and thought i'd check in on all the unrest i've started. J/K! thanks for your responses and i am trying hard to figgure out how to make this deal. i don't make alot and i just started my own buisness ten months ago, so credit apps. don't seem to work out to well for me, but i will figgure it out. i just got off the phone with walt and the out the door number on the car i looked at is 24,883. god, this is killing me.
and beemer, on the lightning i don't know if it has the roller block, i have never got under there to check the block number. it's got a june build date so it might be. if it ever warms up someday i'll check it out.

24883 out the door?? no way that is a new vehicle. either it is used or its a GM with wheels and spoiler

hey bugsys03, i'm new here and didn't mean to start any crap, but thats what i was quoted today over the phone. i had to go back and recheck, you guys had me second guessing myself. of course he only had seven left at that price ("i sold three today"-yeah right). give walt a call and see if i'm bs'ing. his number is a couple of posts up. the one i looked at on the showroom floor had 200 miles on the clock. i guess you can call that used. i can get the vin if anyone wants. what's the code to look for? hell if anyone orders one from there i'll deliver it for ya'!

Hell, delivery it straight to Kenny Brown for me and get me out THAT door for under $40K!!!!

THAT, would be sweet!!!

I'm intrigued as well. I cannot fathom how a dealer can stay in business selling the car well, and I mean well below actual dealer cost. :)

Not that I doubt you, Chris.....however I'd be really surprised if the deal went down at that price. They are waitin' to spring something on you.
Anyone in that area that can go there and check this out, preferably with digital camera in hand?

Best to all,

Paul:D

just to clarify

Just wanted to make sure you knew chris, I was not ridiculing you I seriously doubt your car dealer, I believe that is what he told you , but in the end I believe he'll pop in something to kill that "out the door price" by about 2 grand or so, We all know car dealers and thats a game thats been tried before. "out the door" (plus prep, plus tax, plus tire fees, plus special vehicle surcharge, plus air in the tires charge etc)

to bigmerc and the others that have had doubts, i don't blame you or do i take any offense at your posts in this thread. like i said before, i have very, and i mean very little knowedge on these cars. when i was sitting in my truck in the lot and the saleman walked up to me i asked him if they had any marauders as i was interested to see one up close. when he said yeah we've got ten of 'em and their tenk off sticker i was quite suprised. now, after doing some research i'm finding out that htis price as quoted is cheaper than most gm ls's that i've seen on the web.
also i didn't mean to start any sh!t here. i was wondering if the price seemed in the ball park. guess it wasn't. on a side note, i called my finance co. about this car and they said that they weren't moving very well and had encountered price slashing around the country. now, that's just what the rep. told me. i don't know. i don't see very many around here. the sad part is i'm preapproved for up to 30k and now my wife is vetoing this purchase. i need to get her in for a test drive! thanks for letting me rant and i hope to keep posting (hopefully about my new MM) around this board. -chris

Truely remarkable. The differing costs for the MM cross the states. In California (with all the smog and what not) the cost is and has been rock solid at 30-32K with the 3K rebate. I bought mine late Jan. 03. my brother just bought his 2k MORE THAN I PAID and had to drive to southern Ca to get it. Apparently there were very few in central and northern CA. According to the dealer (how can you tell when they are lying - thier mouth is moving soo take it for what it's worth) there were only 36 left in CA with correct emmisions equipement.

My advice to you Chris go buy it. I enjoy the heck out of mine. Lotta car for the money, regardless if it's 25 or 32. go to your BMW, Merc Benz, Lexus dealership see what 30 get's you. Not much and everyone else has one. Since Dec02 i've seen 3, Mine, my brothers and one other parked way in the back of a supermarket parking lot.

Chris: If you HAD done your homework, you would have seen this coming. Many individuals paid MSRP. They just could not/would not wait for better deals.

I had two things going for me in April of 2002.......a new baby, and a small wallet. I wanted this car more than I want a cigarette right now. But I told myself I would wait, good things would happen. And they did, and now I have what I wanted, and now it's time for even BETTER deals to rise to the top of the pile.

Don't take ANY offense to what WE say, just follow your heart and
BUY THAT G*DAMN CAR AT THAT F*#%&IN FANTASTICAL PRICE
and put us all to shame.

PS: And let the flames begin, I had no idea what a Lighting was. Sorry, but hotrods and trucks were never one of my interests. I searched the web, now I understand. Interesting, a hotrod p/u. In my neck of the woods, that would allow me to haul more gravel, more faster, more trips in 1 day, than my hillbilly neighbor. Hmmmmm?

Thank-you, I 'm done now! :P

Deal of all Deals

I got my marauder in Dec/02. Got the Price down to $26950, decided on the special financing instead of rebate, paid total of $29124 out the door(including title taxes and tags).

I was tickled to death with my deal, and thats all that really matters.
Some people will pay more, some less, but for the most part, we all enjoy the experience of owning this vehicle.

So, if you can get this car at $24,833, what in the HECK are you waiting for. Even with negative equity on the truck, you should be OK.

I have a few years of experience in the Auto Sales world. If the dealer is selling them at that price.............They are losing some serious $$$$$

Good Luck and welcome.

May the Force be with you!

I'll be damned...24,188.57!

yesterday i went by our local LM dealer and looked at a marauder. wow! i want one, bad. i'm thinking about selling my lightning and buying one of these bad boys! they've got ten in stock at ten k off sticker. that's 24,800! when they're gone they're gone. talk me into it guys! later-chris

Well, Chris, seems you have taken some heat from the "crew" here, but before you react too strongly to that, consider that you asked for it.

This can be a tough site at times, hang here a while and strong bonds with fellow owners are formed. This bond allows a bit of license among us, jokes and ribbing continue, and the "insults" seem to carry less of a sting. We're a unique crew, but mostly because we seem to have dispensed with the s**t that permeates other automotive sites.

At times, this can cause a barrier to form against the average Joe-new-guy, but if you tough it out, one day it just all slips away. You'll know that when someone here bust your balls, and you laugh it off. But, until then, Joe-new-guy is your problem 1.

Problem 2, is what you said in your first post, that you can hip us to the cheapest new 300A in the world. While on one hand, this is terrible news for the senior MM owners who paid the 10K you now report can be avoided, OTOH, I think we would all agree that it's great news for the new buyer...and you need us to tell you that? That's kinda rubbin our nose in it, yes? And the beginning of disbelief of you as a genuine enthusiast, rather than yet another dropping by to cause unrest. Add problem 1 and problem 2, Chris, and you get heat.

I strapped your story to my bulls**t dyno, and got some number to report. You are correct Chris, and you took the heat rather well on top of that. I've had a few conversations with Walt Wells, and the bottom line under all his saleman crap, is his promise that he will hand me the keys to a new 300A, when I hand him a certified check to Northtowne LM for $24,188.57. He gets the check, I get the car with certificate or origin. Let me say this again, because it's even cheaper than Chris reported.

Walt Wells said he will hand me the keys to a new 300A when I hand him a certified check for 24,188.57. Walt is fedexing me a sales contract overnight express. We'll see what changes, eh?

I won't bore you with the details of the deal, it has some potholes. If anyone is considering taking Walt up on his offer, drop me a line first, I'll hip you to his tricks. Until then, Chris is right, this is the cheapest new MM on the planet, for the moment.

Sorry about the heat Chris, but you did ask for it. Now, go get this deal, and get back here with your list of what's wrong with your new car, and we'll give you a hand in fixing her up.
