Motorcraft FL-820S. Has some kind of anti-drain back valve in there so unfiltered oil doesn't get mixed in with the filtered...Or something like that, sure someone will chime in with the correct spec.
The ADBV is to prevent the oil in the engine (and the filter) from draining back down into the oil pan, then having to be re-pumped back up with every start. Most filters have an ADBV, not just the Motorcraft. Premium filters (like the MC) will have one made of silicone rubber (as opposed to nitrile). Silicone remains flexible at low temps and doesn't degrade at higher temps. MC filters also have the bypass valve in the Ford-recommended position in the base (threaded) end. Others have it in the dome end, which can allow oil to wash across the "dirty" side of the media during a bypass event.Motorcraft FL-820S. I know I'm resurrecting an old thread, but has anyone used the Ford Racing FL-820 Oil Filter? Seems like overkill at around $20.00 each, but I am curious what anyone's experience may be or if it simply doesn't work with our MMs.
