I'm assembling parts for the eaton swap on my 03 MM and I know the M122 will fit a termi if you get the manifold adaptor plates. Does anybody know what else is different? Not scared of extra work, but I'm wondering just HOW MUCH extra work I'd be looking at. It would be pretty sweet to keep everything on the "right" side of the car. Not to mention it's a better blower right out of the box. Like I said, looking for some info on any specifics you guys know of. Thanks in advance. :help:
 
Don't know if I'd say the M122 is "better" blower, but it does push more air.

What are your goals for the car?

Are you planning to do additional work to the engine?

Are you looking at a built motor or will you be running an OEM long block?

If you're not going to do other engine mods, prolly won't be able to take advantage of the additional air volume the M122 produces over the M112.

Trilogys = M112 blower head.

All current Eaton swaps = M112 blowers.

That oughta tell you something...;)

OEM block til something goes boom. Not looking to push the limits of an M122 at this point, I've heard that it's about the same as a ported 112 in stock trim as far as power goes.
I'm looking for around 450 hp at the wheels, which I know is ported 112 territory, or stock 122.
I've heard something about snout length being different, which could end up being a major PITA. It's these kind of "little" issues I'm curious about.
The blower is last on my list to purchase anyway, just trying to keep my options open at this point.
 
The 03/04 Cobra plate made for the M122 GT500 blower "adjusts the snout pulley to be right where it should be." < JUST found this is not true! You have to use an M112 snout for the belt and pulleys to all line up. Some info below. Cobra engineering does have a snout extender. What's nice is that the inlet is on the driver's side.

Added new info above. I was wrong on the plate. I know at one time he was trying to make it doable. It may be more expensive than doing a ported Eaton swap in the long run.
 
My Trilogy isn't ported and only pullied down one size and made 445 with stock exhaust. Seeing as though a regular Eaton already has a better inlet, plus even better ones to be had, you could easily pulley it, and port it, you would have zero issues reaching between your goal and a remodeled block.

Some local guys here have done tghese conversion on a 4.6 4V and have had pretty good results, I will try and get some pics and any info for ya.
 
The adaptor plates cost about $650. A ported m112 and a m122 cost about the same. Not looking like it makes sense dollar wise. If an amazing set of coincidences dropped a free m122 in your lap then you'd be in business.
For the power gains I'm looking for it wouldn't be worth it.

A nice thing about going the M112 route is that you can start with a stock blower head and always upgrade for more performance via a port job after you've had it for a while.

That's what I've been considering.

The mod bug might hibernate for a while, but trust me; it NEVER goes away...;)
 
I'm getting 480rwhp on my ported Eaton and I think I have just about the cheapest Eaton swap ever. :beer:

Know those are the kinda numbers I'm talking about, Bill! :up:

What size pulleys you running, and what are you running for an exhaust?
 
Stock upper, 6lb lower, self (fully) ported Eaton and elbow (port matched and welded), dual 65mm BBK, port matched heads and plenum, 98 Cobra cams advanced, out through FRPP shorties, Cobra piping to high flow cats, X-pipe and out through Magnaflow mufflers. My 39lb injectors and GT40fp with 40amp BAP are MAXXED! New setup coming this spring. ;)
 
One thing to be aware of is that the VMP TVS has no provision for EGR. Some of our states will not pass that.

FWIW, the guy who came up with the adapter kit is making 550ish RWHP on an unported blower with pulley and exhaust. Porting cost is about on par with an m112. You can pick up a used m122 on CL for 450ish, so it's not hugely more expensive than the m112. I'm aware a bunch of people here are quite thrilled with their eaton swaps, and that nobody's tried this yet because it's a bit of a gamble/pain in the rear. What would be nice is if the guy doing the kit could come up with a custom job for panthers that would move the blower forward about .5-.75" and keep the pulley in the right spot. Would solve the clearance issues and save you the trouble of moving the battery.
