Actually, the hood squeek can be fixed via lubing the latch contact point. PM frdwrnch for the details, I saw him do this on a car about 3 years ago; about a 10 sec fix, squeek went right away.
I noticed it over bumps going slow, but mostly everytime I shut my door.
This one guy told me to lube them with white lithium grease, and I have been religously for 2 years. Most of the squeak comes from the hinges closest to the windshield, and probably no one but me ever lubricates those![]()
Remember to adjust the hood latch mechanism down until the hood mates into the bumpers, properly adjust the front round screw type supports up until they contact, lube all contact points with sylglide or equivelant and the squeak should be dispelled.Gentlemen, The Ford part number for the rubber hood bumper that fits perfectly on the MM and CV of similar vintage is N807055S. It was found under the 96 Ranger parts listing. They are exactly what the hood needs. They fit into the slots on the fender and mate to the angled face of the inner hood panel positioned exactly on top of the slot. Steve

I used two from my 2005 GTO Squeaky be history:up:I installed some from a VW Jetta, they fit perfect and the squeek is gone![]()
Well after all these years Thor has acquired the dreaded hood squeak.:mad2: Will go Monday to Smith Ford and order up the bumpers Bluerauder recommends. Now I need to rummage around in the garage to see if I can find the old grease gun so as to lube up the latch.:beatnik:
I just recrank up the little adjusters time to time. The hood sits a wee bit high but is atleast quite! I'll have to look into these.
I just raised my bump stops abit, and it fixed the squeak problem right up....
Mine went away by raising the hood bumpers and a little electrical tape on the latch
Seriously, I am not trying to bump old threads because I think it's funny, but I have been searching for a solution here. I get the hood squeak and have been doing what justbob, offroadkarter and glockafella have been doing: just raising the hood bumpers. It fixes the squeak ... for a little while.
But I seem to be adjusting the hood bumpers every other week or sometimes every couple days. Is there something I can do to keep the bumpers going for awhile?
Use either a jam nut or thread locker.
Are you sure the hood striker isn't worn out?Seriously, I am not trying to bump old threads because I think it's funny, but I have been searching for a solution here.
