Straight pipes as in what, just dumping under the car, out the side? 
What are your plans for the car? If primarily a street car, why not keep the stock exhaust configuration out the back?
Are you looking for noise?
Don't think you'd pick up a whole bunch of power with this set up, but I could be wrong.

The section of tubing between the cats and the rear muffler on cars that have two parallel exhaust pipes. Performance mid-pipes often have a perpendicular connecting pipe or the pipes temporarily merge. This is to equalize the pressure in both exhaust pipes and keep the engine back-pressure as low as possible since back-pressure is detrimental to high-end power.
You want an H-pipe while being or staying NA. The cross-over equalizer tube helps scaveging the exhaust better.
Here is a picture of my H-pipe, you can see how even the coloring of the pipes is which means I am getting even flow from both sides.

I think you'll want the connecting pipe between the two sides to equalize pressure in the system, that's the reason for X or H pipes.

The Marauder came with an H pipe. I prefer my X pipe. It's a matter of taste / sound.

I'm running a Mac Pro-Chamber, which is supposed to provide the best of both X and H pipe performance characteristics.
I started this yesterday. It's a kooks true xpipe in stainless.

My MM is stock but on my mustangs I've had H pipes, X pipes and a prochamber at one point, which is kind of in between.
H pipes IMO give a deeper more mellow sound
X pipes IMO give a raspier more pissed off sound
Prochamber is in between, and gives you one more thing to scrape on the ground when getting in parking lots.
I have an X on the mach1 now, and if I were to do it again and had a choice, it would be an H, I prefer that sound. The marauder will stay an H.
You will lose power and it will sound like an old chevy truck without any kind of pressure equalizer.

Technically an X makes more power. You can get one that's muffled (perforated X core)
and this will be a third time: Don't do straight pipes you will loose power. --again just in case you missed it.
