Real life Peter Griffin. Trust me on this, this guy had to be the inspiration for the cartoon Peter Griffin. His walk, the outfit and the face are dead ringers. Hes a manager at a Long Island Houlihans and trying to snap a good picture of him is hard to do.
Ill try again this Thursday.

To boldly go....

I enjoyed a day off today and the boys asked me to take them to see a space ship. So the closest one I could think of is about 90 KM (~55 miles) away in Vulcan, Alberta.

Vulcan saw a big rise in fame when the original Star Trek series came out and since then have built their tourism element around Star Trek. I figured most people here would have never seen the place and might enjoy some cell phone pics :D

The town has erected (hi CBT) a very large model of the original Enterprise
IMG00787-20110609-1236.jpg

The visitor center has a mini-museum of Star Trek merchandising from over the years, including original action figures in their original packages, models of the ships, original VHS tapes of every episode, art inspired by the show, etc.... This was my favorite!

A life-size cardboard version of Mr. Spock stands dustily in front of a wall full of action figures.

My boys enjoyed visiting with some cardboard crew members on the "bridge"

....and sells Star Trek diaper shirts!!!
IMG00796-20110609-1251.jpg

The boys tried the new "space laser game" - the blue controllers are iPads built into the console.
