Transmission issue after Dealer PCM Upgrade

Ok, Did some searches, and didnt see anyone with the problems i'm having.

I took my car in for an oil change. The dealer took the liberty of upgrading my PCM (Which was flashed with the 1725). They said my transmission code needed to be corrected.

Before without the 1725 loaded, the car shifted fine, no issues. With the 1725, shifted much better (higher pressue, speed.).

Then when they flashed it back to factory with the upgraded transmission code, anytime the car is in OD, if I have my foot of the gas, I coast. If I place my foot on the gas, with say 1-3% throttle, The engine starts running up to 3,000 rpm as if upshifting into 3rd, but then drops back down to 1,500 rpm. (Not accelerating, just trying to maintain speed.) It does this until I let off the gas, or push the gas past 3-5% throttle (operates normal). Is this a T/C issue, or Tranny issue? I can feel a nice shudder on the drivetrain when it jumps up to 3k rpm. It feels like I just floored it, and it is jumping into 3rd, but it doesnt change gears.

Or should I just deal with it until I get the 1725 reset? The dealer in town (the LM one anyways) are morons. Apparently, this is the first MM they have worked on. Wouldnt be surprised if they put 04 code on my pcm. I guess I could take the car to the Blue Oval/SVT dealer down the road, but I cant stand the service writers who think I dont know anything, and dismiss my view of the issue.

Any suggestions? I think chipping it will fix it, but is this an issue I need to get looked at? Fluid levels are normal, and the fluid looks/smells fine.

Wouldnt be surprised if they put 04 code on my pcm.

I don't believe the PCM would have let you flash in the '04 calibrations. I tried.

I'd like to know what they meant by 'transmission code'...

If you had the SCT flash from the handheld in the CPU when you dropped it off and they reflashed it,the SC program is gone.

Your not going to get that tune back from the dealer,but take it back and make them reflash it again until the trans at least shifts as bad as stock.

It was one of the SCMMax tuners. I have already taken care of that, sent it back to superchips to get reset, so I can re-program.

I just hate letting people work on my car when I cant be there.

When I talked to the service manager, he said the transmission code version had issues, and FMC released an update. So they went ahead and flashed it.

I just didnt know if this might have been a possible transmission issue, or it is was 99% the computer. I do remember a wierd issue when I was running the SC program, when I would idle down the road (5-15 mph) the car would feel like you were lightly tapping the gas (really weird, have never felt anything close to this on any of my auto cars.) So I guess this is why I was worried it might have been a tranny failure/issue.

I never had this problem with stock nor with the 1725 porgram. However, it did rear its ugly head when I had a Stallion torque converter installed. The problem is the sw in the PCM.

I ewnded up restoring my PCM to stock, getting and SCT custom dyno tune. The car has never run this well. The transmission acts as it should AND it now shifts later! The OD does not kick in until 55 so I do not have it bogging in OD at 30-35 MPH any more.

Much, much better. Hopefully Superchips will reflash your tuner. That will get you back where you were.

If you ever travel this way, buy all the parts you need and have them shipped to Team Ford. Let the guys install all the stuff and then have Aric Carrion do a custom tune for you. You'll not believe the results.

Well, I come up to marietta often for work, So I was thinking on my next trip up there, dropping the car off at Team Ford, and letting them tune/install some goodies.

First, nothing should be flashed unless you have a complaint that the flash has a solution for.
I have never heard of a dealership to flash a PCM when a vehicle was in for something routine as scheduled maintenance.
I would seriously question why this was done without your consent, and without an issue that needed resolve.
There is no recall for this action, and even if there was, you would have been notified by a recall letter,
and would have had the opportunity to choose to have the flash done.

You can reset your own PCM and Transmission by disconnecting your battery for at least 20 minutes.
This allows the transmission shift patterns to clear, and they will be re-learned as you drive your Marauder.
