Trying to Fix "TICK" - Need Help!

Hello my brethern

Today, armed with the Mustang TSB and some other information, I dropped off the MM at the local dealership.

I received the response. "No TSB for your car". I would really like this fixed and have given up on the local dealer.

I have roughly two weeks until my warranty is up (Yes, I know last minute - If I wanted a scolding I could call my mom.)

So, I would like to know how close the nearest dealer is to SE Wisconsin that has resolved this problem. I have heard that someone got it fixed near Detroit and that some in Florida have been successful.

Anybody closer? I don't think I have time to convert a dealer over from the "dark" side of the force but any suggestions will be appeciated.

I started a post on this called "Has your tick been fixed" I printed out all

other MM owners that had it fixed and brought the "evidence" to my dealer.

They did all the dyognostics (sp) but Ford would not verify the job (warranty)

So my dealer gave me 50,000 mile Extracare warranty for Free. I do have

a slight tick, I'm happy. There are many members here that have the tick and

have many HARD miles on there cars w/ no problems. heres the link to the

I forgot to mention that my dealer did tell me the tick was normal.

They did every thing they could (in my opinion) to get Ford to verify

the warrenty job, of fixing my tick. They told me the Lincoln Aviator has the

same motor and haS the tick. I started a new 2003, or 2004 can't remember,

and it had a slight tick as well. Anyway, if your hell bent on getting it fixed

print out all the important posts in the link I provided and tell your dealer

your not leaving until your investment is fixed. No if's, and's, or but's.

Does that mean that the side of the motor that doesn't tick is abnormal? Maybe you could ask them how to get that side to tick as well, in case something fails on that quiet side from being abnormal. :cool:

Mach I's do this as well, even one that I tried in the showroom. And all of the ticks I've heard are from the driver's side rear. Unfortunately, I have no way of knowing what came first, the puffing oil at startup or the tick, but I suspect the coking of oil along the valve stems in the hotter 'troublesome' cylinders (we all know who they are) must end up munching the valve guides. Which would probably be a result of crappy valve seals to begin with.

First of all...STEVE!!! I was just thinking of you. I miss you man...
I have had so many D70 things to share with you...

Anyway. Back on topic.

My dealer treated it the EXACT same way.

Here's the trick:
Ask if they will open her up and torque the cam bolts to spec.
My dealer ageed to open it up to do so.

Did this solve your problem Cruz? I never really had blue smoke, thats what

keeps me feeling better :rolleyes:
