tune or no tune?

Doesn't a tune take out the top end limiter? Can you go over 120?

I don't know about the limiter, but mine went 132, stock everything, overdrive off. On 91 octane! :D

I did have a proguard, but I don't know if it reduced drag THAT much. Honestly though, everything starts to feel the same above 120.

If your transmission "HUNTS"...You have "NO" tune......

Mine (tune) comes with an "on/off" option...for the speed limiter...

NICE...

ok i guess i shoulda typed that better but i was askin if any tunes didnt get rid of the top speed limiter because it dosent go past 125. not that thats a big deal only did it to test it out.

Then 10:1 you DO NOT have a tune. Most any tune is going to get rid of 'speed limiters' as the first thing :D

Also, you shifts will be quick with a tune, not slow and silky smooth like a Lincoln Town Car.

I had Lidio's tune, and mine idled at 600 RPM. So, I don't think you can go just by that.

Mine never chirped 2nd with a tune. With J-MOD, yes:cool:

fastcar:burnout:

So... you don't know what your car has.....

Take it to a shop that specializes in tuning Mustangs. They should be able to tell you if the car has the stock tune or not.

Let me repeat that....

Take it to a shop that specializes in tuning Mustangs. They should be able to tell you if the car has the stock tune or not.

.....uh.........what da ya mean there fast?????????...its kinda confusing.....I'm seeing double......oh I get it---you want him to take it to two shops---oh yeah.....excuse me.....good thinking there fast!!

Don't mean to hijack this thread but I am lost about a re-tune on my 03:

On the interior of the hood is a sticker that says: "A Ford Authorized Modification" also has a dealer number and date.

Then is written: "Re-programmed ECU 3W3A-12A(maybe a "6" or an "0") 50 CA."
Poor handwriting so some of the above could be incorrect.
Anyone know???

Ford would never, ever re-program an ECU for "performance" purposes. The person before you probably was experiencing some "jitters" and the dealer probably narrowed it down to the PCM and just re-calibrated it.

If you want to know if you have a tune. Get with me this week and I will take you on a ride WITH a marauder with a tune.....

Definately get a tune, XCAL2 is about the best, when you order ask them to take the speed limiter off. After that get a cold air intake (I just got a JLT) take it down the road, hit the gas around 40 MPH and hold on! Hope this helps.
