i got a v3 system from DR. a short time into it the belt sliped off when i got on it pretty hard. it turned out to be the wrong size belt. ok it happens. now i went 3/4 throttle from a 20mph roll and the belt shredded not all of it just about two ribs, made a mess of my hood liner. the belt still on, hopefully i can make to my shop. anyway it looks like the pullys are straight but who knows. have any one else had this happen? thanks any help is app. the car makes 12.5lb of boost and 430 rwhp.

Yes, it happens... every single time DR sells a kit!

I have had his kit now for 18 months running 9.5 lbs of boost and 460.97 RWHP, I'm not afraid at all to lay into it and proud to say DENNIS REINHART S/C'd my car! I have had NO PROBLEMS with belts or anything else!

I disagree with you marauder12131. My kit from Dennis is two years old and even with all the additional modificat:flamer:ions is running very strong. Probably the best turn key kit around. Even with my million questions I ask DR, I buy parts from him no problems.

I'm glad you like your kit; however, how does this relate to or refute the issues with the wrong belts being sent with his kits? Among other issues.

1. Countless people have been shipped the wrong belt over many years. FACT. Ask me how I know this. Check the boards and see how many times this has happened.

2. Dennis is fully aware of this, yet it continues. Why?

3. Each time, he blames Vortech. This kit is not a complete kit from Vortech, but a custom kit he sells. He is responsible for ensuring the proper parts, belts included get sent with the kits to his customers. If this isn't happening, even if Vortech were in fact sending them, this only means that he is not checking the parts being sent and dealing with the issue, even after being fully aware of repeated issues with this. The responsibility still falls upon him regardless. People are purchasing from him, not Vortech.

4. People receive improper parts and install them and have issues that should not occur. Surely people should be intelligent enough by now to see through this. Or is it logical that after so many years, so many people still get the wrong belt? Really?

My car ran 111" for six years without an issue but I guess it's important to point out that I never had it at the track, and I don't know if the original owner did. I didn't know it was supposed to have 110.5 until I talked to DR when I put the smaller pulley on.

Unless you're running a smaller pulley I don't think it makes much a difference for regular driving (any difference seems to be made up by the tensioner).

+1 on this one too.

I believe you have made your point. You have now sold your kit and should be done with this all together. Levi along with myself said that we had good results with DR's Kit so the EVERY SINGLE TIME in post 21 you stated is false. Like I said in a previous post, I have had mine 18 months and still on the same belt. I hate it you had a bad experience with his kit. Any time I have had a question or a concern all I have had to do is pick up the phone and call Dennis or shoot him a PM. He has always been helpful.

Either way this guy is upset. Stuff happens, it ends with how the resolution was handled. I went with a smaller pulley last year and DR sent it along with a belt and tensioner tool. Running 12lbs no problems.
Oh well.

Agreed - I should have mentioned that mine is not a track car, and that could have made the difference. Or the colder Canadian air temps help out?

Marauder131 you posted your grievances in the Vendor Review and the Vendor accepted rsponsibility. http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=50937

You sold the Kit. You now bring up a thread that is over 2 months old. You told me you had an "inept dyno tuner". Where are your posting about your experience with this "inept dyno tuner"?

It appears you have a vendetta. This is not the vendetta board.

I begin to think it's worth replacing almost every pully/pullied item under the hood if you are going to change any part of it. :P From nearly day 1 of putting U/D pulleys on my Marauder, I had issues. Went through like 4 belts and at least two alternators, still had no clue what the real issue was because the last belt I was given worked without making noise only when warmed up some.

My car wasn't s/c, nor were the parts from DR, so in that sense sorry to hi-jack, but the point still stands: if economically feasible, consider re-doing the accessory system if you can when modding. :P

My point was that the issue occurs with far too much regularity. If the issue does not happen literally 100% of the time, is it a non-issue?

If you had a good service experience with your kit and are happy with it, I am truly glad for you. That's great. However, it does not discount or negate the repeated issues others have had and appear to still be having, which I think is very disappointing. People are seeing fit to defend the kit, when in fact I have not commented negatively, or even referenced the kit itself. I have only spoken on the issue of incorrect belts.

I don't have an axe to grind, I just fail see the complexity of sending people the correct belt.

Enlighten me,

I have a vendetta because yet another customer was shipped the wrong belt? You are correct, in that I have now sold my kit, which is completely irrelevant. In saying that, I hope the new owner gets a lot of enjoyment from it. That person will receive a proper belt by the way, because I personally went and purchased the right one to replace the wrong one, I was knowingly sent by Dennis.

You're going astray, as usual, to deflect from my merely making some valid points on a recurring issue.

I have a Vortech YS trim on one of my Mustangs. It uses an 8 rib belt. In eight years, I have never had so much as a piece of rubber detach. I change the belts every other years as a precaution. The YS trim makes 19 1/2 puonds of boost into my 331 stroker engine. If 620 HP and 547 Ft-Lbs doesn't break a belt, then what will?
I suspect you have a bad pulley, either mis-alligned or a rough spot.

Not trying to stir the pot or get into an argument with anybody, but I just wanted to chime in and say that Dennis got me the right length belt for my kit (110.5") at no charge for the belt or shipping. His support has been outstanding. I had never installed a supercharger before this Vortech V3 air-air kit, but he helped me through the whole process. I just recently installed a full Kooks exhaust that I bought from him and so I had the car re-dyno-tuned at Shelby in Las Vegas. It made 453 WHP / 400 WTQ on 8 psi of boost and nice conservative (read: "safe") tune. I couldn't be happier. I'm very grateful to Dennis for all of his help and support.

I just picked up a used low mileage '07 Lincoln Town Car, so I'll be calling Dennis this week for an intake and tune for that, too.
(No, I'm not going to be supercharging the Town Car.)

So, essentially you got the wrong one originally, that you paid for with the kit?

I think it was yes, but it ran ok for me. Maybe if I ran a lot of boost it wouldn't have, I can't say. But I called Dennis and he made it right. One call, no big deal.

Which still just proves the singular point I have been trying to make. The point is you got the wrong one in the first place, as it seems have the bulk of people, for years on end. I guess I'm the only one who finds this inexplicable.
