Last Thursday I dropped the MM off at my friendly local L/M dealer to get it checked-out, thinking that the extended warranty was scheduled to expire coming up in April...100,000 miles or 5 years. So, I get the MM back today and they had:
  • Checked the compression on all cylinders (for the blue smoke issues), everything was fine.
  • Found and replaced a leaky seal on the tranny.
  • Replaced the front sway bar links
  • Replaced LR door latch, as it was INOP,....basically it stayed in permanent LEO door mode
  • Replaced fuel filter
Now the warranty paid for everything (with no deductible), but the fuel filter and would have cost me $512.86. IMO the extended warranty over the years has definitely paid for itself.

As I was going over the R/O sheet with my service writer I noticed that he had the warranty expiring April 2009 and I asked him about that. He made a call and he said that April 09 was the correct date. So...GREAT I didn't realize I had a 6 year warranty,...WORKS FOR ME!

Way to go!!! I just had the blower motor, controller, and 1/2 of my adjustable pedals replaced on the MM. They have the other pedal coming soon.
 
I have a ford esp base care plan on my 02 vic. Last week I took it in for a frozen left rear brake caliper & they wound up replacing both rear calipers, new pads on both sides & resurfacing the rotors all under warranty! I thought for sure that they would cover the one caliper & hit me up for the rest. They even told me the fronts were still in good shape! I used to dread taking my cars to the dealer, but they have changed my mind.
 
I snapped a CV boot which required replacement of the entire half-shaft assembly in my Cobra a month after my ESP expired. The dealer charged me $525 but my service writer said to call Ford at their Loyalty Group. I made that call and spoke to a lady about my situation, she put me on hold, came back a few minutes later at which time she notified me I would be recieving a check for the entire amount less my $50 deductible! 25 years owning Ford vehicles and I was never more impressed.

That's why buying a factory warranty is the only way to go if you have a choice of FORD or aftermarket. In your case a aftermarket company would have paid for the caliper, and the labor to replace the caliper. They consider the brake pads and rotors normal wear and tear, which we all know is :bs:in your case, and would not have paid for it. I know I tried to get them to pay for years.
 
Not to hijack my own thread; however, my SuperDuty had a sensor go bad that caused the engine to die. This was after my extended warranty died on it,...$600 dollars was the cost to fix. Jump ahead in time 6 months (this past October) and my service writer called and told me there was a recall on my truck regarding this sensor and they had an upgraded version from the recently installed one in my truck. He said bring it in for the recall and that he would put the paperwork in to recover the cost from the previous fix,...got my $600 back and a new sensor again. :)

Now back to our normal programming....
 
I phone up the dealership to make an appointment to bring my Marauder in. I wait for 1/2 an hour and then call the other dealership. I wait there till I get disconected, while on hold. I call the private guy across the street, honest and very good. He picks up on the second ring and I am booking in for the next day.

Twice I tried to go to the dealership and twice I couldn't get through.

I'm just going to the Private guy from now on unless some major warranty thing pops up.
 
i should have bought a warranty for my current car when i bought it. it would have paid for itself easily.
