I bought a Marauder, that's what!

Hi all. I'm Pete. New to Panthers, but not to Ford Mod Motors. My last one was another 32 valve, a 1995 Lincoln Continental. I loved that car, and I'm already in love with this one, too, even though I've only owned it for about 32 hours.

Also not new to modding. In my spare time I do the Jeep thing. I own a Jeep Cherokee that is built to keep me out of trouble. But back to the Marauder!

I got the car off a used car lot in San Diego. It has a build date of 09/12/2002 (according to Carfax). It has 119K miles on it, but you wouldn't know it. I swear, this thing looks like it just came out of the factory. Pretty sure it's been re-painted, and it seems like everything in the car is brand new. It even has (I swear), brand new Marauder floor mats, still in the factory plastic. The seats look new, the carpet looks new, the trunk carpet looks new, everything looks new. It's amazing. You'd expect a 119K mile car to at least have a worn drivers seat, but that is not the case. The cars runs beautifully. I suspect, but have no way of confirming, that the car was reconditioned at a Ford Dealer.

However, it does have some typical older Ford issues. When I got the car, the blower for the EATC was not working at all. After doing some research, I tracked it down to a bad blower control module. After consulting the almighty Google, I determined that it was possible that the module had bad solder joints. Easy enough to test, and if it worked, I would save $80 buying a new one. So, I took it apart, re-flowed the solder, and bingo, working AC! I love free fixes. There are some other issues, such as the info center in the overhead console not working, and the rear defroster that does not turn on (I don't think). No matter. I'll figure it out.

I've been a car guy my whole life, so it's pretty exciting for me to finally be able to get one of these cars, even with some quirks. I have already found lots of useful information here, and hope to be able to contribute. I don't know the Panther platform all that well, but I do know Ford pretty good. I've owned a Fox Body 5.0, the '95 Conti, an old MK V, an even older Gran Torino Wagon (back when Mod Motor meant an ENTIRELY different thing), and even an old E100 Econoline van. My mom used to work for Ford back in the day, and she has been a Lincoln fanatic for as long as I can remember.

Anyway, hope the picture worked, and if not, I'll figure something else out.

Welcome to the show bud.

Nice find.

Now it's time to make it faster. :burnout:

Sent from The White House on taxpayers dimes.

DTR + 4.10's + Eaton swap = Wreeeeeeeeeeeeeeedom

Thanks guys! FI is not on the agenda for this car, but I will do some mild tunes. I'm gonna plastidip the wheels, lower it a little, tint the windows, and be a happy camper. I used to race in my Mustang. I got that out of my system. Now when I want to go out and do something extreme, I take the Jeep to the desert and play. It's a LOT of fun. The goal for the car is to have a nice comfortable cruiser than can get out of it's own way (mission accomplished!).

This car replaced my 1973 Dodge Dart Swinger project that never seemed to get off the ground. I sold that car to my son who has way more time and motivation for it. I'm happy to have a turn-key cruiser.

That's what I said, a nice cruiser But,,,,, this site could make you WEAK when a deal on a SC setup comes around.

Congrats on your new addition.

There is no "info center" in the overhead console. It's just a compass, which can be fixed.

You don't understand....

I will be unable to do any high dollar mods to the Merc (and I'm good with that).

I own a Jeep. More than that, I own a rock crawling Jeep. In my world, JEEP stands for Just Empty Every Pocket. The Jeep is the primary toy, and gets all the discretionary income (part of the reason why the Dart was such a non-starter).

But that won't stop me from tinkering.;)
