What did you do to your car today?

Took the Silver out for 55 min freeway ride each way, to see another SB that was for sale in the Bay Area (NorCal). It was a 100,000 mile hashed car, interior bad, paint bad, wheels bad, hood and trunk lid scratched, sun fade and clear coat missing, no records, and the kid (was his Dad’s car had stared at $14,000 and said it was clean. But my SB needed the ride, as we are now at 33,000 miles and it hadn’t really been driven for a year or so….

After getting my 2005 Aviator engine one whole year ago, it's finally in the garage and in the stand!
2024 will be the year of my Marauder!

I took the upper console out and fixed the compass by re-soldering the detached resistor. Not to bad of a project.

You know, I did this years ago, and couldn't find the resistor at all. Someone suggested I just bridge the connection with solder and it actually worked. Scariest part was unsnapping the overhead console from the headliner, hoping I wouldn't break it.

Car has sat for months for me to get the time to work on it, so: new battery, new belt, oil & filter change, new KYB rear shocks, new Metco control arm bushings, and clean up the old arms and replace zerk fittings and chassis lube everything, Gunk degrease rear axle and trans pan, wash engine, new fuel filter, oil S&B 9" air filter, clean TB and MAF sensor, put on stock cold air kit, and been driving it everywhere with expired tags trying to get the "Not ready" P-1000 code to disappear so I can get it smogged. Repairing broken window / door lock switch panel as rear tab snapped off.

FINALLY, reviewing all the paint damage a hack mobile car washing guy did to all my paint edges, door handle upper surfaces, tops of the mirrors, and rear spoiler by washing the car in hot sun with the hardest water in America, then "fixing" spotting by taking an industrial buffer and burning holes in the car paint, burning all sharp edges down to bare metal, revealing white plastic under the spoiler edges, and literally chipping metal off the leading hood edge, while giving me a "discount." I'm now out a minimum of $4K min to get the car painted. He offered to "detail the engine and interior" but Thank god I said no. I was just busy and lazy and wanted the car washed, and offered for him to use my shady driveway and soft water bib, but he knew better. I feel like an idiot, and should have never trusted this hack.

Opened the garage door and looked at it. I need to get the motivation to figure out the fuel problem so I can get it running and then finally tuned.

Hey everyone it’s been a minute! I’m glad this forum is still up. I’ve been around since about 2011 or so. Changed my belt a few days ago and love this car the most out of all that I’ve had.

Switched out the fuel pump assembly. Had to unf**** the hack job the dude before me did to it. He clocked the assembly incorrectly, then bent the fuel line into the tank to make it fit. That was in addition to cutting some of the wires and re-connecting them with a twist and some electric tape.

If anyone has a good source for an OEM fuel pump id love to get a new one.

Glad its done. Having a fuel gauge and not having the car fuel starve during left turns is a nice change!

Still in uniform? How you been. I moved from the house you visited in Hampton a few years back. Moved to Smithfield.

Wow that seems like only a few years ago but it was more like 11 years ago. I’m still in uniform and operating in a complete different role now. Smithfield NC? I love the outlets there and you’re not too far away from Raleigh.

Smithfield VA, The Ham Capitol of The World, lol.
You going to the Marauder gathering in Louisville this August?

I've installed a touchscreen controller. Now I can control the temperature through it, listen to music. I’ve also upgraded the suspension in my car because it felt terrible to me, and I replaced the braking system as well. The brakes were just not up to par, so I installed new components to improve safety and control. I also made sure the interior looks perfect, adding custom details and ensuring every surface is in top condition. I decided not to make major changes to the exterior paintwork since the color has held up well, but I did send it for polishing. It’s important to me that the car looks great, as it will be featured in a car exhibition. I’ve attended similar shows in Germany before, so it’s exciting to see smaller exhibitions happening here in my home country, especially with local sponsors supporting the event. The main sponsors are a local beer producer and some Hungarian online casinos, with some of them listed here. It’s a bit disappointing that these events aren’t widely popular in my country yet, but I’m glad to see them growing in presence.
