What is "streetable horsepower"?

hmm.
Streetable.

Can handle anything you might encounter on an everyday drive and still be able to get you home.

Very simple. It has alot to do with the set up. I've seen some 100 or less hp cars I wouldn't call "Streetable" yet I'm sure there are 600 or even 700 hp cars that (with a good driver who knows the car and doesn't do stupid things) could be concidered Streetable.

Mac if I had the money I would be taking a trip to meet you personally and take your Marauder home with me.
If I was to do so, I would have the luxury to be able to ask you about every mod you did, when they were installed, and who did them.
That little insurance factor would help me sleep at night knowing I just plunked down $25k on a Ultra Modded 3 yr old car.
By putting out 535HP you narrowed down your potential buyers.
The guy who loves the look of the Marauder and dont care about performance will definitly not want that much power, and the guy who wishes for that much power isnt really going to want that in a 4200lb sedan.
You have to find the combination of someone who appreciates the Marauder and have a need for speed that only 500HP can satisfy.

If I hit the lottery before you sell, I'll be in touch...

DRs

No flames on DRs. But, I honestly think Nitto has changed the stickiness of their tire rubber compound to compete with the new 18" MT 305 DRs. The DRs really stick at the track - 1.768 60' from a poor sighted/reflex driver. But, honestly fellows there is no way I could continue to drive them on the street - sticky beyond belief. I had to peel paper off the tires when I got home from work and imbedded stones.

NO :flamer:

I've had DR's on my Marauder for well over two years ( I'm on my third set ) and what I've noticed is that you'll get things sticking to them alot right after you do a burnout. They get like fly paper after you heat them up. Aside from that, I've never noticed a whole lot of debris on them when I don't do burnouts with them.

It is only too much power when you can't handle it. I have seen numerous "birds" taking it down the stip who have no clue to what they are doing. 500+ hp was an experience for me but...I adapted. Now I want more!!!! Can I handle it?? Don't know until I try.

Streetable horsepower, an interesting comment/question.

For me it is mostly about the "creature comforts" and other factors. It is power that is delivered within these constraints;

No race gas

Emissions legal or all emisions equipment intact

Suitable to be driven in rush hour traffic:mad2:

No overheating

Stable idle

"Quiet" exhaust

"Minimal" maintanence

AC

Car should be suitable for 2 mile trips for groceries and 250 mile trips to the cabin/lake.

Must be able to be driven in the rain.

Perhaps when the car becomes a "trailer queen" one has crossed the streetable power for that particular car.

Part two....

What is the limit of streetable power? The is hard for me to say. I have limited experience with high hp cars. It depends on the driver, car, geography, etc. With current engine management, tires, etc I think it would be around 600hp, maybe more with 4 wheel drive.

Thanks for the thought provoking question.
