Here's a picture I took during my fastest drive.

The full size picture is in the gallery. It's not quite as impressive after you convert from km/hr. I was driving a Mercedes diesel on the autobahn North of Hamburg, Germany. The pedal was floored & it was max'd out. Felt fairly stable though. I was still getting passed pretty quickly by some Audi's & BMW's.

SouLriot i like your break in methods..haha. Topher.. what did you get that car up to in mph?

140+ 97 SHO on more than one occasion. On I 275 between Michigan Ave. and I-75 interchange at 3 or 4 in the morning no traffic... That car would squat at 80mph and stick like it was on rails from there on up. Best front wheel drive car ever made was the second generation SHO IMHO.

120 in a 1965 Vette (in 65) and 120 (at least on the speedo) in a 1957 Olds 98 convt, top down, in 1960.

Both runs were with old tire technology.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Fastest ever.....

140 in a '75 Alfa Romeo on IH5 in Oregon somewhere...

125 in my Marauder yesterday.

122 on my '75 Kawasaki 400 triple.

82 on a bicycle! (scared)

not to brag, but I was a passenger on a 170 mile an our ride with my dad (an expert driver and veteran police pursuit specialist) at the wheel in a corvette Z06, and 181 (laser verified) in my 85 motecarloSS. 470 horsepower, 3.23 open rear, 700R4 (with mods)
3klbs fighting weight. 10.5 inch disks with worn pads up front, with stock drums in the back with worn shoes with the worstsuspension in the world, passing the Z06 on the right very slowly 10 minutes after the ride, with a passenger as a witness :) we will never speak of this again

Yee Haw!

How did you do 82 on a bike!?>!?!?

In High School, a bunch of us crazy(!) bicycle enthusiasts built "downhill racer" bikes with no crank, pedals, seat or chain. Just pegs on the rear axle for your feet, welded-on grips on the fork, and a piece of padded plywood along the top tube to lay on. Oh, and BIG drum brakes on the front wheel and a normal drum brake on the rear wheel.

One of us psycho- uh, I mean talented bike/rocket pilots would catch a pickup ride to the top of the famous Black Mountain Road (in an undisclosed California town) and proceed to literally fly down this steep road powered only by gravity.

I had a modified motorcycle speedo on my bike that was checked by being pulled by a moving car while shouting out speed indications on the car's speedo.

After a particulalry frightening run down the hill, I noticed the needle sitting one tick above 80 and hit the brakes- hoping to slow down enough to avoid certain death by impact with a tree or hillside. I'm not sure I ever went that fast again...

By comparison, driving a car at 125 is boring.

My Mom had a '68 GTX. What color was yours?

143 MPH in a 1963 Chevy SS Impala with the 409 cu in @ 424 HP. Sweet machine coupled to a Borg Warner 4 speed close ratio trans. 1/4 times were low 12's. The next fastest was my 1979 Kawasaki Z1-R TC (turbo charged) motorcycle at 140 but had way more to go.. Got chicken and backed off!

102 MPH in a brand new 1983 Mazda RX3
48 MPH down hill on a cheap ($200)
Mongoose Mountain Bike with the
front wheel wobbling so bad I thought
I was "Bound for Glory"..... Never again!
Gotta Love It!

165 mph in a '65 Chevelle SS (Corvette motor) almost 30 years ago, 125 mph in my MM 30 minutes ago.

140 in my Cobra replica.....The I started thinking about the "Mickey Mouse" windshield attachment.....lack of safety equipment and backed off!! :(

Never went that fast again but remember it had a lot more in it and I heard someone say 165 is about the "wind load" limit?? ;) I'll take their word for it!! ;)
