Why I live in The Florida Keys

....but we don't have to put up with this very often in the North:P:D

Fortunately most of them miss the Keys.
I have seen 140 mph winds.
We had an 8' storm surge in 2005, my mailbox floated away but my cars and homes were untouched:banana:

Summertime here is different than mainland Fl. We are normally 3-5 degrees cooler in the summer and 3-5 degrees warmer in winter than even Miami.

Sea breeze is great.

okay, Gary -- why I fly to Florida to visit my friend in the winter--to get away from windy cold--it better darn well be in the 80's on Jan 23rd in Hollywood Beach:D:D

Minnesota!

I've got you all beat! I'm a Florida native living in Minneapolis for the last 12 years. It's just brutal. I'm flying out to Viginia and bringing home a new Silver Birch on Friday. Don't think I want the baby to get so cold! 24 below with a windchill of -49, it would be warmer if I went and sat inside my freezer!

But it's a moderate -12* with gentle breezes. :D

Looks nice and pleasant from inside ;) sure my gas bill still will be less than a Florida AC bill even in this cold.

One thing I am jealous of... Year round use of the marauder!!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk so I may sound retarded.

What ever the temperature is and no matter where you are living, be careful. Heat and cold can kill you.
FLASH New Orleans is in the 20's today and tomorrow. That should shut the city down. Black Ice already reported and I have to do Bakery deliveries in RED today.

What a difference a few miles can make...still trying to get out of the single digits this morning in B'ham...

This morning it was 3* when I got up at 6AM, now at 10:45 AM with the sun out it is 2*, poor beagles buddies are peeing ice cubes.

Where in Virginia?

Just the other night, I was sitting in my garage and noticed that it had just dipped below 70. I got a chill, so I put on a sweater and sat back down. I briefly pondered what it must be like back East, then promptly forgot about it.

Weather says it's gonna be 80 and sunny this weekend. I think I'll go to the beach....Who am I kidding...I hate the beach. I'm gonna go to the desert instead.

a desert is just a beach without water........isn't it?!?

Pretty much, except, no, not really. Where I go, it's more hard pack and rocky rather than sandy, with canyons and hills and all kinds of other stuff. The desert is amazing. People think of it as barren and wasted, but it isn't. It's really incredible.

Besides, I like to off-road, and in California that means desert or mountains. If I wanted to wheel on the beach, that's a harder proposition. Ca has 1,350 miles of coastline. Of that, there are a grand total of 5 miles that it is legal to drive on. The only other option is Mexico, and that ain't happening. I hate the beach, anyway, so its easier to just head East into the desert.
