Rod, you can ride up with me if you are not in a real hurry--about all I can average is 85+ ;) . This sounds too good to miss--plan to attend whether it is MVIII or not---will attend MVIII wherever it is, Maury

Did some homework....

Drag strip costs:
Milan dragstrip rental includes timing equipment, insurance, track personell, and ambulance crew. We wouldnt have to do a thing, run equipment, etc, unlike Indy and IRP. They break the cost down as follows:
$250 per hour up to 15 drivers. (Works out to $17 per person, for 15 drivers)
$300 per hour for 16-30 drivers. (Works out to $10 per person, for 30 drivers)
$350 per hour for 31-45 drivers. (Works out to $8 per person, for 45 drivers)
$400 per hour for 46-60 drivers. (Works out to $7 per person, for 60 drivers)
$450 per hour for 61-75 drivers. (Works out to $6 per person, for 75 drivers)

The per person cost is per hour, for example, if we have 30 drivers, the cost for everything is $300. That breaks down to $10 per person per hour, so if we are there for 5 hours, it would cost $50 bucks.
If we had 75 drivers for 5 hours, it would cost $30 bucks for each driver, follow me?

So this is the cost breakdown for drag racing. Of course we will be trying to find some sponsor or vendor support for this event, which would really drop the cost factor.

We are currently working on cost factors as we speak, as Mary asked. Keep in mind that we will do nothing solid or spend cash to reserve anything untill we are locked in to this large of an event and have solid commitments from Members, vendors, and the MM.net as a whole, including Logan.
We are simply opening up our events to the board, if this fits a MVIII calling, so be it. This will be one hell of an week though.
The drag racing can be anything we want. If we want marauders only, or open it up to the local mustang cobra club, the newly formed chrysler 300c club, and impala club. This will have to be decided as it will affect cost of the drag racing. Anyway....more food for thought, as requested, the cost of dragging...

Forgot to mention, the Burger King is directly across the street from the world famous Duggans Pub, the epicenter and originators of the very first Woodward Dream Cruise and every one since. It is a BIG draw, and we will be right there!
....mmmmmmmm Pub.....

Would like to go!

Folks, would like to attend, not sure about my schedule. Three scenarios.

(1) My brother Brian and I drive out there from San Diego, meet up with the Mr and Mrs Teamrope as well as 4th Horseman like we did for Indy.

(2) I can't go but Brian and my other brother Craig take the car. Logistics TBD.

(3) Marty picks up my MM and brings it on the same trailer with the ultimate superstar MM! While I am in an undisclosed location, like during MV I when Dennis brought my car.

Either way, if y'all can make it happen, my car will be there, even if I can't make it. I did it for MV I and Mac did it for MV II. No problems here, it's the right thing to do.

Mine is the first DR S/C MM just as Mac is the KB #1, although his holds much more historical significance. Would hope that Jerry Barnes, Lidio, and Paul (6 speed) bring their cars for the same reason. First of a series. Any other significant cars, like the strokers, would be important to have those too.

I can guarantee that Lidio and Jerry will be there to represent.

I am interested. Sounds like another Mustang 40th Anniversary style party. I went to that last April and had a blast.

I'm in regardless of what it's called. Where do I register? Dave I want a grudge match with you.

I vote for #1 but can certainly be counted on for #3!

Any possibility of adding the Frank Hawley Driving School to the itinerary? I know that that will make Jim happy.

I knew that with 5 chances out of 52...I would lose, that's why I don't gamble. My 5 weeks vacation for next year are already approved and not subject to change, Aug 15 is not one of my weeks....same story for MV-I....maybe by MV-IV there will be planning further in advance...or I will get lucky.:(

Sorry Smokie,
This is the earliest a MV event has been planned in advance as far as I know. There were some here that didnt want to even talk about it until January. Our planning for this event, whether its a local event or MVIII, needs to start now. The Dream Cruise is a BIG event and we need to take steps now to reserve rooms, locations, etc. Come February, there wont be any decent Hotel rooms closeby left due to the influx of people that come to town for WDC. Mike and I were talking about this last night, that this is just about as late as we should get going on this.
I am pleased at the apparent popularity of the event as laid out. This could be the best MV event ever if we plan right.

Dave and I have been working hard on this "week of fun" for a while now. And regardless of whether it turns into MV-III or not, its gonna be a HUGE week loaded with as much fun as a car enthusiast can stand:D Automotive nirvana at its finest!!

So, along with Dave, I'd certainly like to extend the invitation to all our national members here and know that we would be honored if the MM.net groups decides that this week would make a fine time and place for MV-III.

We still have bunches of details to get resolved but we're already moving on it fast. All of your input here is welcome as well. We may not be able to accomodate everyone's requests, but we'll try:D

Just an idea...

I know none of this is set in stone...but it's just an idea.

Would it be possible to designate an evening (maybe 1 or 2 hours) where all the Marauders present cruise the strip together, in a pack, all at the same time? Maybe do about 2-3 laps, then come back and park at our lot? How awesome would that look? I'd love to have video of that. 3 lanes across, and 2 bocks long of nothing but Marauders. I think that would draw some attention!

Without a doubt we will do this!!

In fact, if we can get MV type attendance, we would certainly be the largest car club in attendence at the WDC....and that is something!! The "yellow mustang" club drew a boatload of attention with about 45 cars making the cruise the evening before the Big Day. The Motor City Marauders had the largest single model display anywhere on Woodward. Add to that all of our national members and we are talking about dominating the cruise attendence wise by a single club AND model.

This is exactly the kind of attention for the Marauder Steve Babcock would love to see, right here, right under the noses of the Ford execs.
