MM parts on CVs

That's crazy my friend seen that car before somewhere near the northside and he sent a picture of the car to me. Had to been like a year ago. I think he still has the picture of it I gota ask him. He thought it was a MMand I did too til I seen this thread!!

I still don't see the point of an MM clone if you aren't going to at least swap to DOHC.

If you had to choose between converting to an MM, that wasn't an MM...

or building a Crown Vic to something that was so much more than just a Crown Vic....

Why would you choose to be a fake?

Exactly...phony mm piss me off.

Have you seen how much clones go for at Barrett-Jackson and Mecum?!?!?!?

Lmao, nice.

Seriously though, I can't think of a different car community where you wouldn't be looked down on for trying to fake a car.

Put SRT badges on a non-turbo Neon, you look like an idiot.
Put GT badges on a V6 Mustang, you look like an idiot.
Put Lightning badges on a regular F150, you look like an idiot.
Put SS badges on a V6 Camaro, you look like an idiot.
Put Evolution badges on a regular Lancer, you look like an idiot.
Put SRT badges on a V6 Charger/Challenger, you look like an idiot.
Put Si badges on a regular Civic, you look like an idiot.
Put turbo stickers on anything that isn't turbo, you look like an idiot.

Figuratively speaking, the list could go on forever.

I mean, I guess you can get SOME slack if you go to the trouble to also swap the entire powertrain over, or do enough conversion to where the only thing that would give it away would be a VIN that doesn't match what you're saying it is, but even then, why cheapen the namesake of whatever car it is you're trying to clone?

Meh, I don't mind the cloning. If you really like Marauders and found some parts and they fit your (Grand Marq, Crown Vic, etc.) fine with me. Now if someone cloned one and tried to sell it as a Marauder, that's a different story.

It needs a new engine ;)

wow not far from me, that would probably be worth it, interior looks decent, if both bumpers are MM bumpers that alone is worth half the price of admission if in good condition

I don't see what the big deal is... it's not like they took them off a good MM. More than likely, it was a wrecked Marauder and they took the good parts and used them. Nothing that can't be undone either.... You used to see this all the time with musclecars. 442 ram air hoods on Cutlasses, Air Grabber hoods and GTX badges on Satellites, Shaker hoods on regular '69-70 Mustangs, etc.

Or the other way around, taking the 427 off the fenders and butting poverty caps on the rims

Doubtful, seen all the recovered stolen MM's at insurance auctions? What's missing? Interiors, bumpers, wheels essentially all the Marauder specific parts.

Why throw 3-5k worth of parts on a $500 Vic, not a big deal if you have -0- in the parts. I also have only seen 1 Vic that was converted, done legit and cost was obviously high.

Sure, I put Pinto buckets in my Courier way back in '83. Not trying to be a Pinto, just better seats.
I only have a few Marauder parts in my Vic, not to imitate but to add to what Ford left out for us..ie. tachometer, driving light switch on headlights, gauge pod and decent swaybars. Most of my parts came from salvage yards or parts no longer needed.

I would totally buy this and tell the seller to keep the wheels. It would be a great parts car. Not to sell parts off of, but to keep in case someone hits me again.
