2003 with 16k miles for 21k good deal?

If you want it that bad pay for the appraisal and go from there

I thought about doing that, but then I have 890 dollars in a car that I don't have.

The main fear is the appraisal gets done and then the lender changes up the loan costing more. Or worse yet the lender denies the loan. Leaving me 890 in the hole for nothing. The lender won't tell me either way whether the car has a snow ball hell in chance of passing the valuation. I ask then to talk to the appraiser to see if it's in the ball park before he does the appraisal and they say he gets paid to appraise. Sure I get that, but if he's in the business he would know off the top of his head just hearing how much and what said condition the car is in could give a reasonable answer. Boy, this is starting to feel like buying a house all over again.

I guess I need to look for a cheaper car. Buy from a individual. Problem their is most people aren't big on cashier checks. Not sure how they work the deal. Last time I bought a car from a individual and financed it took me a month to get the title.

Oh, well their is the old way of doing things and just save up and buy for cash.

Should not have put money down if you weren't goin got get it back...the dealers I've dealt with always said the money was refundable or it would be taken off the price...that sucks though since they aren't out anything to hold that car...

Sadly, I was approved for 16500 and foolishly thought that 21,450 would not be a big deal. I must admit I got a bit over zealous about the car and confident that I had a deal with the lender. The 500 does go toward the purchase of the car. If I can purchase. If not then dealer keeps the money. I can't blame the dealer wanting to keep the money. They took the car off the market for a week. They removed the ebay site and autotrader ad. If I don't buy then they perhaps lost a buyer in the interim.

The problem is the price. Dealer won't come down lender probably won't loan for that amount unless I put some serious cash down. That is if the appraiser doesn't kill the deal.

I think best at this point to walk away with my 500 dollar lesson. Rather then a 890 dollar lesson. Sadly in the midst of all this sits a pristine Marauder waiting to be enjoyed.

I assume you do not have like the cash difference between 16500 and the 21500? I would not finance 21500 on a 11 year old car . That's me personally ,

Sucks that your bank won't play ball. My bank had no problem giving me financing @ 1.99% for a Marauder with 103K on the odometer. Actually, the bank never even asked about the mileage. Just gave me a check to fill in when I found the car I wanted.

Brand new to the MM. I hate to say it, but I'd never even heard of the MM until I saw one on the dealer's website about 2 weeks ago. Drove the 1.5-hour drive to check it out in person last Thursday, and left my 2012 R/T Challenger behind.

Yep, and that is exactly what I think the appraiser will say.

I just don't like the games the lender is playing. They do this for a living and know what they will lend on. How could they not?

Cheaper car with maybe some mods is the way to go. Or just cheaper car. lol

You guys are really supportive on this site. I really respect that. Considering I'm a new guy. Really makes me want to get a car and be a real member.

5k difference, they want you to put up something to insure you won't just walk away from the car. Pay the 5k and go get your car.

21k is way too high for a stock marauder. I would only pay that if it is in pristine condition and has a ton of upgrades - engine, blower and transmission at minimum.

This x1000000000000000000 I'm sorry but the Marauder is NOT a good car in stock form. People can be as pissed as they want, but lets be really honest here, $21k for a stock Marauder :shake:

I don't care if it had 7 miles on it; do yourself a favor and buy a trilogy car for thousands less. Maybe I'm just crazy though.

I've been in the market for a Marauder for a year now. I ran across a 03 black b marauder with 16k miles california car. Asking price is 21k. No, sunroof and no traction control. It has the storage box in the back and full size spare.

I thought I would ask the experts if this is a fair deal?

thanks.

whatever you pay be sure it has new rubber, the original tires from '03 are too old to be safe

This is true, and in the last several weeks we have seen a few trilogy cars listed for sale for less than 21k.

But, everyone has their own cross to bear, myself, I wanted an unmodded car, so that I could start with a good base(not sure why, I changed everything), but if there is any hint that you may even put gears in it, buy a modded car, better yet buy one from a board member, they are better maintained and taken care of.

Mine was only a few years old when purchased, your looking at hopping into a 11 year old car, personally, and I am not a Chevy person at all, but I would look at a Chevy SS or maybe even a 15' challenger or charger. I think you will be money and mods ahead.

But if your heart is set on a Marauder, I would say look here first, I looked everywhere when I bought mine, everything on lots was what I would consider rough, I looked here, struck a deal and went and got it, still gorgeous today.

You will find the right car if you give it some time and don't hurry.

A slightly used Dodge Charger RT or Chrysler 300 C with the 5.7 liter hemi will give you 370 HP stock. That is about 70 more HP than a stock MM.

My wife has a 2014 Charger RT and compared to the MM at my vacation home, it is a lot faster and a lot more fun to drive.

The MM is still a wonderful car, but in stock form, even with low miles is not worth $21,000 IMHO.

I will be driving the MM for a week beginning on Sunday when I go to Las Vegas to attend my son's Law School graduation.

Back home in Fresno my daily driver is a 2013 SRT8 Charger. A whole lot more fun to drive than any thing else I have ever been in. :bows: :D

The Challenger is still on the wish list as well. I have three cars now and only room for one more. I have a dodge already. The Neon Srt-4 with a stage one and a hurst shifter. Most people laugh at it until they run against it.

Right now I'm hung up on a MM. Maybe I'm feeling nostalgic for the days of old. Gonna look for a better deal.

A nice slap in the face from the dealer. I let the dealer know I can't go forward on the purchase and ask if they would be willing to reduce the price. They say no way. Then the following day they re-list the car 1500 dollars less. Nice.

Time to look at buying from a individual.

Nice car, however,

Sounds like your dealer is a dou%*#bag. :puke:
