Are cars selling?

Bought mine 10/2003 and used as a daily driver. When I got into the high 90s I decided I would own it until I die. I had my T'Bird for 20 years so the Marauder should last. So 05/2006 I bought a Fusion SEL. It now has 163,xxx on it. I retired 04/2013. The Fusion will be driven into the ground and the Marauder, now at 105,xxx miles, will be babied. I use it a couple of times a month. Oil changed once a year due to age, not miles.

The Marauder needs a new windshield, headlights cleared up and a front end paint job to fix road rash. Less than 8k miles on the current set of KDWS. Otherwise it is in great condition. My biggest problem is finding a good paint shop.

Most certainly, which is why it hasn't sold. But the reality of the thing is that even at $20k you could barely build that motor and strap a blower to it for that kind of money, not to mention supporting mods.

That's just the way these things go. My position is that if it sells it sells, if not I have no problem keeping it.

That in no way means that I am unaware that they really aren't a very desirable car. Which is why you won't see me complaining about mine not selling.

I know I came in late, bought a little too early, and paid a little too much. My plan is to trick them both out over the next ten years, when/where each car will have sub 20,000-40,000 miles, and then I will drive them - smiling like a crazyman - until I die.

I still need two Vortech kits... LOL... but they will come my way!

Mine was somewhat similar to RTRsuki's and sold in less than a week (under 11K). I basically gave it away because I had to. The kids school was more important.
 
Many good points made about the MM limited buying market, relative age vs collectability, not super rare yet, - but it's a tough selling market for all disposable income items right now.
Last two episodes, even Wayne Carini's cars didn't hit reserve and no sale.
Invest in something else, or plan on keeping these awesome cars!
If you do own one and must sell, be realistic on the price and be patient.
I've driven at least 2 local cars that should have sold by now.
The 4th generation Firebird/Camaro and 2004-2006 GTO markets are in the same shape. Cool to guys with no money, outdated by newer cars that guys can get a loan for.
 
MM's not selling

The cost of Fuel and MPG doesn't help matters either
car gets about 20 to the gallon Premium isnt cheap $3.75 / $3.95 in my area

Two for sale in this area, they both sold in 3 weeks. One for $9000 with 115,000 on it and the other for $5000 DBP POS.....
 
They seem to sell rather quickly at the dealership where I bought mine. I looked at five of them and they were all sold in a span of 3-4 weeks. Nothing under 14k. Banks, are more generous if you buy from a dealer rather then a individual.

The main problem I found with purchasing this car was that it was hard to get financing. They are expensive cars but are not highly valued by the kelly blue books of the world. That's what the banks go by and you can't get a very good loan.

If you try and get a loan from the classic car loaners they want to rape you on the interest rate and have you put down a very substantial down.

A lot of people know about these cars and want them, but few can afford them at their current asking prices.

I wish I would have bought every 356 Porsche and speedster I saw for 4k back in the 70's and 80's I would be a rich man now. Old vw bugs are going for 3-4k now.

I think these cars have a place in car history. Like anything time will tell and If they make a movie using one it will really drive up the value. Come on hollywood.

I wish I could keep mine as I could see these coming up in value in years to come but right now, I'm 28 with a boat, mustang a cayenne s and a marauder. I want to buy a house at some point so an empty savings account won't help that! I knew it would be tough to sell this thing because I need to find a Marauder enthusiast and not some Joe shmo. I didn't think it would take this long. Oh and I HATE Craigslist and the fools who roam it and make calls like they're interested!

This week Mecum auction sold a 2008 S600 Mercy B with 80,000 miles on the clock for 30,000 dollars' the car new was 126,000 . I think we are on the Positive side .considering our retail was 36,000 new
 
The guy that was selling my car had it for sale for just over 6 months. He had started at 17,500 and I got it for 14. After the fact I think I could have gotten the car for less, but it was a fair price for the car. I was a cash buyer that wasn't afraid to travel for the right car. From a buyers perspective, there are a ton of used up Marauders out there for about 9 to 10k. They aren't worth that. The market for these are at about the bottom like others have said, they will start to go up in value within the next 5 years, or so I hope.

Ditto on this..[ Movie Time], Like vanishing point... also back in the 80's Mopars were the cheapest used cars you could get ,If you look, 426 Hemi's are off the scale and by contrast the- Ford SOHC 427 [64-65] was the fist 650 hp motor built, the" Marauder package "430 tri Power was the first 400 hp big block built in 1958 and these one off's are not holding the Tag like Mopar . .. Sign of the Times I Guess.. ?.[ :violin:Just sayin]
 
I have never bought a car to drive with any thought of a monetary return.

Most cars are a pitt that's on fire that you throw money in.

I see those reality tv car flippers and choke. The only way to make money on cars is think of them as objects. A commodity. That is not loving cars, that's loving money. And ruining the value or ability to buy cool cars for those that do love them. A completely rotted 69 camaro shell for $6k - only on tv.
