CAR Motorsports Gods Head Emblem Shipment Update

Options?

If the whole rear emblem is not in full contact to the truck lid will it stay in place?
I mounted mine but there is about 1/8 inch gap in the lower right hand side of the emblem, (3 to 5 oclock), where it is not touching the trunk lid.

I have tried to push it to close the gap but it will not stay.

What are my options?

I have the same problem.

I dont know what to say. I installed my new emblems (front, rear, and horn) And they all fit and look like they should have from the factory. The fit and finish is first rate! I love them. I think they complement the rims well on the all black car. I got a little concerned with the talk of the rear emblem not fitting right with certian alignment, but i just went ahead and installed it facing the correct way. (he dosent look like he is running) And it fit great. So, thanks again.

Most folks are installing the emblems without incident. Good to hear you are pleased and enjoying the upgraded appearance provided by our emblems. Stay tuned for our next emblem offering. The "MARAUDER" Word Emblem. It will be made to match the Gods Head Emblems. Again polished to a decorative mirror finish. Enjoy!!

Amplifying Instructions for Trunk Lid Emblem Installation

Amplifying Instructions for Trunk Lid Emblem Installation

Photo A shows factory positioning for the rear emblem. Please note the two
black dots at the 9:00 & 3:00 positions. On the underside of the emblem are two
studs [posts] - one under each dot - that fit into the two holes that are
predrilled for factory alignment and installment of factory emblem into the
trunk.

Once the Mercury plastic emblem is removed the template is placed into position
by aligning to the emblem to the two pre-drilled holes and center lines on the
template at the 9:00 & 3:00 points. Without a template you can draw a straight
line across and outside of the predrilled holes. Then mark 6/10 of an inch
above left 9:00 center alignment line.

Next, center the emblem to the trunk and position the rear emblem with the
helmet tip at the 6/10 mark as shown on photo B. With the Gods Head emblem in
the correct position press firmly and evenly to complete installation.

Please note: tape application guide instructions.

Thank you for taking the time to post this. I have left you 2 messages, attempted to call you 8 times, sent a PM, and e-mailed you since Monday and received no response. I have done business with you several times and I am rather suprised at the difficulty at getting in touch with you.

Will try again tomorrow. Looking forward to your other products.

I had the same issue with the rear badge as some others have experienced. To properly orient the "Mercury Man" (i.e., at the same angle at which Mercury had always done it in the past), I was not able to get the curvature of the badge to line up with the curve of the trunk.

I used the process described by Dragcity, but my results were not as good. No matter how hard I pressed around the perimeter of the badge, there was still a noticeable gap between the 3M adhesive and the trunk surface at the upper left and lower right of the badge.

As it was, the badge looked okay, and was on very tight. My only concern was what will happen next winter, when water gets in that gap between the 3M adhesive and the trunk, then freezes. The water would expand as it froze and further separate the badge from the trunk.

To prevent this, I took some black 3M windshield urethane (which is very watertight when it cures), and used a toothpick to fill in the gap, at both upper left and lower right. It can be messy stuff, but cleans right off with the same denatured alcohol you use to prepare the trunk surface in the first place.

What I have now, is the Car Motorsports badge which is:

(1) Oriented the way it should be;
(2) On tight;
(3) Has no gap for water/ice to get into.

Now, to take off my winter wheels and put on the real Marauder wheels and go croozin!!:burnout:

We are sorry for your difficulties in contacting us this week. We show no record of any Private Messages being received, also no emails outstanding that have not been responded to. We did receive two messages that were overall not understandable for the name and number, and best we could determine they concerned Gods Head Emblems. These messages must have been yours. Please call us today and we will certainly help you in the best fashion possible.

Thank you,

We are still gathering numbers from the original post describing the product. After we log enough interest, then we will go to production.

You know what - I'm not an idiot!

I certainly know how to orient the figure straight up and down.

So does everyone else!

What you refuse to address is the issue with a 1/8" gap that DOES exist if the badge is put on straight up and down. This is not satisfactry!

I will try to call tomarrow.

.I have the CMS badges and want to say that the orientation may not suit everyones taste, but I found it be acceptable. It is difficult to mass produce an item and satisfy the personal needs of everyone. I installed the rear badge first and matched the angle on the front badge to match. I have had them on for a couple of weeks and have gotten quite a few compliments from strangers.

I respect peoples right to express their opinions and my intention is not to diminish their concerns. I only want CMS to know that I am thankful that they took on the task of creating something that makes our cars that much more special and delivered a high quality product. Thanks to Rich and Alan

Please phone us tomorrow and we will be happy to address the issue you describe. Many of the pictures that have been posted do not show a gap with the badge mounted with the figure facing directly left at the 9:00 position. We are not "refusing" to address any issue. If required we will gladly reproduce and replace each and every trunk lid emblem sold. Have we in some way slighted you? It sure sounds like it. If so, we are sorry for your displeasure and look forward to making things right for you when you call.

Thank you,

Rich

Krytin, the "problem" is the rear badge is meant to orient the way Rich shows them in the pic, the way the Motor City Marauders logo shows the neck of Mecury at approx. the 5 o'clock position, and not "straight up and down the way Mercury has always done it."

If you orient them the way Rick says the figure will still face the 9 o'clock position, and it fits perfectly with no gap at all. I think it looks great that way, and am not worried that the neck is a few degrees to the right of the 6 o'clock position. YMMV.

Regards,

Norm

That is the problem - I have the emblem installed flush to the lid "leaning forward". I had really expected it to orient the way Mercury displays it on the front seat backs. Oh well... I do thank you for your honest concern and your follow up!

The rear Badge actually makes the Guy look down when its installed flush on the trunk.
I have seen the front grill badge mounted correctly and its a beautiful looking piece
