Lighting Control Module Recall

I repaired mine a couple of years ago. I figured my repair was going to outlast the car so I planned on ignoring the recall. Than yesterday no tail lights or driving lights. I couldn't tap on it at the time. Next day everything is working again. Guess who is gonna try and get it replaced? Me! lol. I hope they don't give me grief about the pigtail hanging out of the module with a good old fashion headlight relay on it.

If they do give you crap whitey may be looking for a trade ;)

I would help, but since i didnt pay for a vendor status, im forced not to. Send it to fastblackmerc....he charges $75 for his HD 'bosch' style relay fixes. Too bad im helping a guy right now with that exact same problem...

RECALL 14N01 LCM-1

I took my Marauder to Pearson Ford and had the Lighting Module replaced. It was a pleasure
to do business with this dealership, as they are friendly and professional. I highly recommend
them to anyone who needs their Ford or Mercury product serviced. A Special Thank You to Leonard and Bill for their making my experience an unforgettable one.

Nice to hear about the good dealership experience. We do well at pleasing our folks at my store but some bad apples get more press.

LCM recall

If I've already had FBM do his thing on the LCM,There is no point in bringing my car in to Ford..Is that correct?????

I believe the dealer has to confirm that the problem exists before they'll replace it for free, but some have said they mailed/faxed/sent in a receipt for having a repair done previously and gotten reimbursed.

LCM recall

..I am the original owner...Does the fact that FBM did the LED conversion make me uneligable to get a new LCM installed free????I'm going to PM Jim and see about a paid bill to submit...Anyone else that did the LED thing try getting a new LCM???

I brought mine into the Ford dealer. Was told they will not replace unless they see it not working. Guess I have to wait for it to act up more frequently. :-/

LEDs or HIDs have nothing to do with the LCM - headlight issue.

bugsyc... I responded to your PM.

are these some possible problems of a bad LCM? headlights flash on & off when it's raining and left turn signal doesn't flash unless turned up and down manually, when stepping on brake with left signal on, both rear lights go out but third brake light works?

Headlights flash on and off only when it's raining? You know the headlights come on with the wipers, right?

As far as the turn signal and brake lights, sound like a bad bulb or a bad ground.

Most common problem is the headlights either don't turn on or when they are on they turn off. If you tap the LCM the headlights will start to work.

You could also have a problem with the LCM / turn signals as the flasher is inside the LCM.

Brake light problem sounds like wiring, corroded sockets, pinched wires, bad ground, etc.

Is there an average to how many whacks the LCM will take before it finally gives up the ghost and the lites will no longer pop on?

I think it would depend on the force of the whacks and the condition of the contacts inside the relay..... In other words no....... Same goes for the BCM.

I repaired my own LCM over 7 years ago and I am not going to let
ANY dealership touch my Marauder again.
I don't care what it is for.

After dropping 2 quarts of water into my transmission
they will NEVER see this car or any car I own ever again.

The Lighting Control Module works whenever you turn on your headlights.
Whether you do it manually or automatically with wipers or daylight sensor.
The relay that is used to power the headlamps is set on to the circuit board
and held in place with solder, then it is coated with silicone
along with the rest of the board.
The silicone coating prevents the relays from breathing and they will overheat.
Replacing the relays solves the problem.

We reported it as a safety problem when it started happening
and it has been overlooked all these years.
I have absolutely NO CONFIDENCE in the system any longer.

Its the opposite for me. Sometime i cant turn them off when its set to auto on. Turn it clockwise and it stays on. Also my highbeams often dont turn on when i push the level forward. Pulling back to flash to pass works. Is this lcm related?
