Mercury Marauder - still the bastard stepchild of Ford!

Here's what I'm talking about: I just got an email from Ford. Apparently I signed up for info about the Ford Edge long ago, and just got another update. While perusing the email extolling the virtues of the Edge, I noticed a section that says "trade-in values". I decided to see what Ford thought my MM would be worth. So I clicked on the link and it took me to a site called intellipriceauto.com or something similar. 1st drop down menu is year, 2003. Next is make, Mercury. Next menu is model. My three choices are: Grand Marquis, Mountaineer, and Sable. NO MARAUDER! And this is the site that FORD sends me to get the trade-in value on the Marauder.

Just so you'll know - no Marauders were harmed in the production of the post. I was NOT going to trade the Marauder in on and Edge, just playing on the internet.

I got an oil change at my local Ford dealership and they keep sending me stuff in the mail about my 2004 Grand Marquis. Every time I see that I turn into the Hulk and start ripping the flyer up lol. Even in their computer system on my invoice it list it as a GM and not an MM but of course at the L/M dealer where I bought it Marauder is proudly displayed.

Has anyone ever checked on the difference on insurance between on 03 and an 04 MM? I'm guessing that if the 03's are all listed as GMs, it ought to make the insurance premiums a little cheaper. All the stuff I get from Ford talks about my Grand Marquis. I've got to admit, my black 03 is a little sharper than the average geezermobile.

Now, where did I put my Grecian Formula?

The Gecko knows my '03 is a Marauder...

Nationwide list mine as a Marauder, insurance agent knew exactly what the car was when I called him to add it on my plan.

My insurance company knows its a Marauder, But the dealership I brought my car to recently didnt have Marauder in the computer so I was listed as a Mountaineer. :(

The loan company and my insurance company both said "Mercury Grand Marquis Marauder" when I called. Go figure.

Progressive calls it Marauder........dealer called it GM on paperwork at time of sale....recently bought a house and on those documents it said MARADA?!?!?!?

All the Fords.. P71 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, P72 Crown Victoria Commercial Fleet , P73 Crown Victoria S (standard), P74 Crown Victoria Lx... and the LX Sport...is still an orphan without its own VIN identifier...boo hoo.. The M75 for 2003 was for all Grand Marquis including Marauder, but in 2004 the regular Grand Marquis retained M75 for all lines except the Marauder which had its very own M79....easier for the insurance companies to rate em...and to compile accident and other stats...by car line...no matter what you call it, the MARAUDER is in a league of its own...since the 1996 demise of the Impala SS body on frame rear wheel drive Texas made LT1 V8.

FLM Dealer Pros

My dealer asked me if I wanted my tires rotated while getting my last oil change.:shake:

Part of the reason i love my car is because it is the BASTARD CHILD OF FORD. This MM is my first ford and i'm a chevy guy.

Ssssssh!...don't burst any bubbles...

If you publish the info that exposes the truth, you are going to burst a few bubbles, in spite of your claim that the MM is "in a league of it's own". We didn't even get the 31 spline axles they got in 2005! The MM is just a nicely modded LX Sport. A stock MM isn't really much faster or quicker than a CV Police Interceptor.

When I bought mine, I made quite sure that the insurance co. (Nationwide in my case) made the distinction between GM and MM. God forbid if the car were ever totalled, I wouldn't want them calling up and trying to give me the value for an '03 Grand Marquis...probably about $5K in the wrong direction...

The total package is head and sholders above a CVPI. I had a 2004 CVPI for awhile. Now I got an old rickety 2000! Junk!

+$5k?...

Even though a CVPI (or taxi, for that matter) is basically a stripped down model of the Panther chassis, an MM should be head and shoulders above them, when considering the $5,000+ extra suggested retail they had. I can't see where the TownCar has $10,000+ extra value over an MM.

I would like to see Ford's actual cost to manufacture all their models. It wasn't too long ago, Ford's SUV's were said to profit them $10,000 per unit.

I don't doubt it...

Ford's Super Duties are bring an avg of 17K profit per unit!!

When I priced F650's, they weren't much more money (sometimes less!) than a loaded F350. F450, or F550. An F650 can be had with a Cummins or Cat, and the F350-F550 can't.
