Sorry it has been so long since this thread till I touched on this topic again...

I have some shoots of my stock pan below... ( I know its dirty.. it has sat out for almost 2 months in a garage...)
I am sending it out today to have a new one fab'd that will retain the needed dimension(s) (near crossmember) so it will fit...

I will keep eveyone posted on the progress of this mod...
The new pan will be increase capacity, have oil slosh baffles and traps, an improved crank scraper, a welded 1/2" oil return bung, etc...

htis first shot shows the ciritcal oil pick up area... The new pan will have a gate/baffle system here...

This shot show the Marauder stock crank Scraper... not much there.. but it works.. this design will be improved upon...

This shot shows the ever Critical crossmember interference location... This angle will be retained and not exceeded like the mutang pans seem to...

this is a shot of the 1/2" oil return that was tapped for my supercharger... the new pan will have a 1/2" oil retun bung welded in place.. the oil return tube is being sent with the pan to ensure thred matching etc...

If anyone has any suggestions please don't hesitate to comment... i can have the the gentlemen Fab'ing the new oil pan do about anything...

If this does turn out well and anyone else has an interest to get this done I would be happy to assist you in making this occur.

I'm impressed...

Those are the first photos of our stock pan I've seen. I'm impressed with it.
 
I'm with Brutus.....Those metal filings look BAD!!!:argue:

Is that the only way to supply oil to the blower??:confused:

There is actually no metal fillings in the oil... (the pan is dirty from sitting in garage) the tapped and shreaded metal on the inside of the pan looks worse than it is.. but can get a def improvement with an ni 1/2" NPT bung there...This hole is not to supply oil but rather to return oil to the oil pan from the supercharger...

I will keep everyone posted on developments. The pan was shipped out last week so he should receive it this week.... can't wait to see the before an after shoots...
 
Stock Pan is good but can be much better...

ya for a stock pan it is very well setup.

It has a built in crank scrapper... although it is very small...

and has a sloosh preventer but the trap door design is far superior for road race etc...

Not so much for darg race though...

I saved the piece I cut out of my Moroso 7 quart pan to modify it. That is another option. I will try to remember to take a pic. The pan already comes with the 7 quart capacity and a 1/2" bung.

As you can see the critical angle over the crossmember should not be an issuse.

a couple shots of the internals of the oil pan without the pick cover bolted in place. This allows us to easily see the 4 oil control trap doors located at the bottom of the pan...

Once again you can clearly see the clearance around the crossmember allowed for by this oil pan....

In the interest of more info:

What has the new pan done to your overall ground clearance? How much farther down does it hang?

This looks like a complete manual fabrication. What kind of money did it cost you?

Also, how much used oil will be "trapped" in the pan when you do an oil change? It looks nice, but I get the feeling there will be a few quarts trapped in the pan anytime you change the oil. Maybe I'm just not seeing something critical.

Looks awesome, though! It's obvious you put a LOT of work into that bad boy!
 
I love to take credit for building the oil pan... but I didn't

I know a guy who used to work for AVIAD oil pans and now owns his own oil pan making business. I think he does some very nice work.

Price: I'll have to go look....:eek: nah wasn't that bad... but I do have to check final price.....

As far as oil being trapped during oil changes... well Im sure it will restrict some oil from easily rolling right out but it doesn't make a 100% seal in trap area...
some oil will always "leak" around or under trap doors but mostly (when filled) it will hwlp kep oil level optimum around the oil pickup.... this is important during high speed cornering etc... not so much drag racing.....
...but I run the Marauder on track such as Pocono's Tri-oval...
 
This may be silly, but you might want to see what the temperature rating is of those locknuts before you bolt that beauty on.

This is the third custom pan I have gotten from him and all three had the same lock nuts....

thus far no issuses with any of them....
