Seating and Pedals

I have a 2004 Marauder with about 1000 miles on it. I love the car, power, handling, etc. I have a couple of things that are bothering me about the car concerning driver seating and brake and gas pedals. I am 6'3" 275lbs. and I would like the driver seat to go back more and down if possible. Has anyone moved the seat back more on the rack? Also, both pedals are all the way down position and still seem way too high to me. I have to pick my foot up to step on the brake losing time. Drove a new 300C and the brake and gas pedal are down and close. Also the seating goes way back. I actually have to adjust it up. Does anyone have solutions to my problems? Thanks!

Hi Ralph,

I too would like a little more seat travel back and down.
Also the emerg. brake pedal is starting to aggravate me, It's in the way of my left ankle. I really love this car but am starting to wish it had a bench seat! OMG!
But then i'd end up driving it from the passenger side when I went around turns...;)

Ralph, we're about the same size, only I've got an inch on you (6'4). Try this: Tilt the seat forward, which lowers your knees, then, using the tilt function, tilt the seat back, keeping the front of the seating surface lowered. I have size 13 feet(s) and the pedals are about right for me, except once when I was on the brake, but pushing the gas at the same time. (an interesting situation):D
 
Hi Mike,

I'll try your seat adjustment method too. BTW, about the gas/brake pedal...Been there and it's scary when your foot slips off the brake and hits the gas..I've gone to using the right side of my foot to hold the brake down instead of the ball of my foot.

It didn't take more than once to make sure my foot is squarely on the brake pedal.

AHA! Now we know what happened with your garage door/rear bumper Mike.... ;)
 
I actually found that tilting the front of the seat all the way up (rear all the way down) and the seat back fully inclined gave me more legroom / comfort due to additional leg support. Yields more headroom too.

Also, the KB dead pedal made a world of difference in how comfortable the pedals felt now that the left foot has somewhere to stay planted.

Shucks, Joe, those two times were when the tug got unhooked and the damned barge hit the wall. Boy, I'll tell ya, there's a LOT of stuff hanging out behind those mirrors.:depress:

She's all safe now though, 'ol Silver Birch is all covered up and warm, up at Snow Shoe, and I'm three hours away from causing further insult to the poor girl.:D

To make the seat go back farther:

1. Get a pair of vice grips.
2. Move the seat all the way forward.
3. Go behind the seat
4. You will see a small silver pin in one of the holes in the seat track.
5. PULL IT OUT. This will give you an extra 1" - 1.5". This is a stopper Ford put in order for the rear passangers to have more space.

I did it on both the seats in my car and have been loving it ever since.
 
Seating

I wish someone would find out how to raise the left arm-rest on the driver-side door about 2 inches!

At my age I don't think my arms will be growing longer.

I did it to my car already and yes it's that easy. I even did it to both seats.

Trust me.
