Radio + defroster = annoying

The tint covered the copper traces on the back glass. When removed one or more traces may have cracked preventing current flow. Do you have an area that doesnt derfost or is slower to clear than the others? If grounding is an issue it should be on the defroster part of the grid. The antenna grid should be ungrounded or you'd lose your signal to the radio. Rick

haha i posted that without looking at the 2nd page hahaha
nah theres no tint cracks on the back at all, they only took off the drivers doors and i thought that might lead to a static electricity imbalance or some heebeejeebee electromagnetic stuff hahah

Has anyone ever found a cure to this radio reception issue with the defrost on? Man it's irritating!

Don't know if this may be the issue or not, but this was posted this up as a reply to ImpalaSlayer's Eaton swap thread:

(ImpalaSlayer): directly under where the plenum needs to sit is this little thing. i honestly have no clue what it does, it appears to be a little resistor or something im not sure but its gota GTFO!

(SmokdMercRauder): The resistor thing is a capacitor and and used to reduce radio noise..lol.

Might be worth checking out.

My factory radio would be all static on FM with or without rear defroster on. Replaced it with Pioneer AVIC-Z120BT and no more static even with tint and defroster on!

COMMON PROBLEM. BEST FIX BUY A S/C listen to the whine.........

Huh... I'll run that past the wife, but I think she'll be a tad upset with the repair bill...

I'd say it's a safe bet that with everything I've read with everyone having this problem that the issue is in the radio its self....

The radio has nothing to do with it. Mine has done this with the stock radio and still does it with my Pioneer system in too. I am sure it has to do with the antenna and the crappy design.

Agree that it has nothing to do with the radio. Mine didn't start having a problem until the state of Maryland required me to remove my 17% tint from all my windows. I had them re-tinted to 43% to comply with Maryland law and now have areas where the bars don't defrost everywhere and static when using the radio and defroster at the same time. Fortunately I have XM and it doesn't affect the radio when using the FM transmitter and XM simultaneously. Sure that something was nicked or broken in the removal and re-install process.
